Was out of contract. Had no hold over him
Mackie wasn’t list manager either.

Actually he was also out of contract. But you only get one West Coast in your lifeAnd you pay a premium for contracted players, see Tim Kelly.

No to both Qld clubs but the comp wont anyway hawks are similar to the catsAs Mackie said Geelong will get growth organically
But, will also decrease organically
The question is will it be enough to keep up with Brisbane, Gold Coast and the Hawks?

My post had nothing to do with Curnow. I was commenting on a young key forward with 45 games under his belt, selected at pick 33. He's doing okay. The post I replied to was worth pointing that out to.
Anything else I can help you with?
We could improve our team and likely not beat Brisbane when it counts.Exactly
Brisbane are getting better
Who knows. Maybe it is.I don't care about it that much and I really like Marshall.
F1 and pick swaps in our favour. Dunno why it hadn't been done yet.
I think the only way we would consider taking your first this year is if we think jevan phillipou is a good chance of getting through to the pick which I don’t think is going to happen or we make a late play for cam McKenzieDo you foresee 19 and future 2nd getting it done? Or pure F1 to get it over the line.
Marshall is still adamant about going. Twomey reiterated that yesterday. I imagine more traction will happen in the next few days.

Eh. There you go.Lol

“He was contracted to the Cats for the 2022 season, but was eager to get more game time, playing 32 matches over three years (including four this season as medi-sub).”
This is a pretty good example though of a club having a contracted, valuable player, who they want to deploy elsewhere on the ground but does not want to do so, then accepting pick 21 for him after initially asking for pick 8Lol

I keep reading this but if so, what are Geelong doing about that? I dont see any of their midfield improving. Seems they're only interested in changing one element of it and that is the ruckWe have about 3 inclusions to the best 23 without losing anybody and that’s before adding Marshall. So yeah, I assume there would be natural improvement.
Saying they NEED someone when it’s far from the biggest factor of Brisbane beating them in the Grand Final is silly.
Want? Yes
Need? No
Adding a ruck would help massively but the Lions midfielders destroyed ours. Ruck was about number 10 of the list of problems on GF day.

Holmes and Smith are too old to get any better. Marshall though is the perfect age to start his career fresh in the most difficult role on the field apparentlyYou don't see a 23 yo Holmes or a 24 yo Smith (first season off an ACL) improving next season?
We have also added Worpel as a solid 3rd/4th rotation, and look like regaining Bruhn.
Maybe it won't be enough to challenge the Brisbanes of the world, but there's not much else we can do having chased Rowell and Butters only for both to stay put.

I think they improve but Worpel wont play a role in that at all. He won't get a game.
Geelong will be fine either way. You have to find a way to cope with that.
Worpel literally walks in the door as our fourth best mid behind Holmes, Smith and Atkins.
We know our midfield is our weakness, as shown in the GF. There's not much else we can do - the best midfielder to move clubs this trade period has been Flanders and he's certainly not a difference maker.
They have a pretty specific role in mind for Worpel but it assumes his form slump this year is driven by the syndesmosis injury and that he'll improve next year. If it is more of his 2025 output he'll be out of the side but i doubt itI think they improve but Worpel wont play a role in that at all. He won't get a game.
Last day trade, was always going to be. Same as Smith last year.
The comment you're responding to is irt to a specific stalker we have. It's nothing to do with saints, or Marshall for that matter.
Just a hilarious quote from a truly terrible journalist. If the "other club" isn't Geelong, who tf cares about what they think?
God I'm just DESPERATE to get Fremantle's take on whether Marshall ends up a Cat.

Fair enough, hand on heart I didn't realise Holmes was that young. Bit of a Saints nuffie here! He's already been great for the Cats, If you see him improving again, then happy days.Holmes and Smith are too old to get any better.
