According to Ross comments he really wants to try 2 rucks and has been planning for a while for it. I dont think it works but thats their prerogative. I dont ever think they were trading him which is their right.

Geelong will have more retirements (including likely dangerfield) next year we absolutely will have cap room for 2mil a year and more.
The issue is more cultural because we just dont pay those sort of salaries but in the new marketplace for someone like butters we would have to.

Well we have a couple of big contracts but have a look at our best 23, they're mostly role players that have really well defined roles they work in. Even the big names are mostly older guys going contract to contract who aren't going to play in melbourne with kids and a house in torquay. Plus who do we have outside the best 23? We have basically no money running the vfl.

Yes, early in the trade period it was reported from multiple journos that things were progressing well. The sticking point seemed to be that we were offering 2025 first and they wanted 2026 first.

Seems Ross got involved last week and decided Marshall wouldn’t be traded at all. In the end we offered above what they’d originally asked for but they still said no.

The fact that the Cats offered a F1 & we knocked it back, has surprised me.
But the fact that Marshall will not be playing for Geelong fc.
Makes me feel estatic to be honest.
And it sends the message to any player from here-on,
that if you sign a long contract, but want to leave coz it suits you,

Mackie fumbled the missing piece to a flag for you guys. You got Ro to agree to nominate you guys on better terms than he'd get at St Kilda. You offered peanuts which was insulting, then waited until the last minute to lure St Kilda back in only to offer salted peanuts.

You had 3 firsts on the table for Curnow, so you could've offered more for Marshall but chose not to.

Marshall playing for St Kilda and not Geelong next year is a win for the entire competition. Mackie hasn't offended anyone be, but he has come across as a fumbling egotistical fool who thought he knew how to play the game and failed miserably.

Treating a list manager as a messiah has never worked, look at Dildo, Bains, Trout etc, Mackie certainly isn't one and should be held accountable by Geelong fans, not praised.
