No, That would be waste of a trade. One of Adams strengths is to still fight for the ball when he isn't on his feet.

I understand.
But last night I was flicking between the AFL and the NRL.
At times it was guard to tell which was which.
The rolling maul is a blight on our game and if the coaches won't do anything to then the rule makers will have to.
If you can not tell the difference between AFL and NRL there is something wrong with you. They are both great games but Rugby Union, League and Australian Football all look extremely different. Rolling mauls only happen in Rugby union as in League as soon as the tackle is deemed held they play the ball.
go to the 20 second mark that is a rolling maul nothing in AFL looks like that.

Wow, so much negativity.
Yes, I know what a rolling maul is.
And yes, I know I mixed my codes.
But flicking between stations there was often a pile of bodies with the ball underneath them.
And no, this is not my idea. But one I would love to see implemented.

There is negativity because it is a ****ing stupid idea, if you knew what a maul was you would know that your proposal would not change it in the slightest

My word.....you poor kiddies are very hung up on one word.
The word "maul" has been used for the last couple of years by comms on all stations to describe the ugliness of a pack of AFL players locking the ball in and pushing it along the ground to the next pack of players.
If you have missed this I'm sorry for you. But thems the facts ma'am.

Is that you KB?

Ha!
How old are you son?
Anyway, as pointed out earlier this isn't my idea, just one I support.
The idea comes from a man who's record is as follows;
259 VFL/AFL games.
444 goals.
3 times Premiership player.
1 times Premiership Coach.
In one of his clubs TOC.
4 times Victorian State team player.
Captain of one of his clubs for 2 seasons.
2 time leading goal kicker for one of his clubs.
A member of the AFL HOF.

And he hates the AFL maul.
And he has the solution.

Reckon he knows a touch more then you or me.

How about we leave the rules alone for 2 years, see how the game develops.

Tip; It won't fall apart.

Only needs to be 2 changes for next year:
1. Increase what is considered to be legal marking distance from 15m to 25m to stop bullshit chip kicking around
2. Allow rucks to use physical strength in the ruck, only pay incredibly obvious frees. Let them push, shove and block each other..

That rule was used in the Ansett Cup around 99/2000 era...one of those years. It was brought in on the basis of how quick the game was in the Australia vs Ireland modified series games. It didn't even last the pre season competition of that year before it was turfed. It was ridiculous.

No just because he had a good playing career does not mean he knows more about the game then you or I, it just means he was a talented player. He is an old bugger that has probably never watched a game of rugby in his life and is just making blind comparisons because his main point is he thinks the game was better back in his day and he would look like a fool if he just said that

And can we please for the love of god scrap the substitute rule!

Lol really is silly season if people are taking Robert Walls seriously.

I think he should go back to sipping some more of that French champagne! It will be a sad day for Aussie rules if this one comes in...

You cannot play the ball unless you are on your feet.
Do you have to 'come through the gate' ?
We should also allow a player to throw the ball back into play (at boundary), based on the last player to touch the ball being penalized.

Two rule changes that would bring back the crowds:

1. Scrap the sub....put that one away somewhere alongside the "kiss cam"
and
2. Kicking backwards = PLAY ON, stop teams bailing out backwards, no marks awarded for backward kicks in defence.
