If you can not tell the difference between AFL and NRL there is something wrong with you. They are both great games but Rugby Union, League and Australian Football all look extremely different. Rolling mauls only happen in Rugby union as in League as soon as the tackle is deemed held they play the ball.I understand.
But last night I was flicking between the AFL and the NRL.
At times it was guard to tell which was which.
The rolling maul is a blight on our game and if the coaches won't do anything to then the rule makers will have to.
My word.....you poor kiddies are very hung up on one word.
The word "maul" has been used for the last couple of years by comms on all stations to describe the ugliness of a pack of AFL players locking the ball in and pushing it along the ground to the next pack of players.
If you have missed this I'm sorry for you. But thems the facts ma'am.
No just because he had a good playing career does not mean he knows more about the game then you or I, it just means he was a talented player. He is an old bugger that has probably never watched a game of rugby in his life and is just making blind comparisons because his main point is he thinks the game was better back in his day and he would look like a fool if he just said thatHa!
How old are you son?
Anyway, as pointed out earlier this isn't my idea, just one I support.
The idea comes from a man who's record is as follows;
259 VFL/AFL games.
444 goals.
3 times Premiership player.
1 times Premiership Coach.
In one of his clubs TOC.
4 times Victorian State team player.
Captain of one of his clubs for 2 seasons.
2 time leading goal kicker for one of his clubs.
A member of the AFL HOF.
And he hates the AFL maul.
And he has the solution.
Reckon he knows a touch more then you or me.
Only needs to be 2 changes for next year:
1. Increase what is considered to be legal marking distance from 15m to 25m to stop bullshit chip kicking around
2. Allow rucks to use physical strength in the ruck, only pay incredibly obvious frees. Let them push, shove and block each other..
Lol really is silly season if people are taking Robert Walls seriously.
Do you have to 'come through the gate' ?You cannot play the ball unless you are on your feet.
I think we need to make sure there are no hands in the ruckDo you have to 'come through the gate' ?
We should also allow a player to throw the ball back into play (at boundary), based on the last player to touch the ball being penalized.
