Over the weekend two different people(one very reliable, one so-so) told me that Pagan is definitely gawn at the end of the season - the club is paying out his contract, replacing him with Mitchell & Sticks to oversee the coaching dept for two years.

Both will work for basically the same money they're already on, so there is no great increase in operational costs - it's the only way we can afford to get rid of Pagan.

Just wondering if anyone else has heard the same. Where there's smoke etc...

Personally I hope it's true, I reckon it's time for a change.

Its a so and so, and this topic has been done to death. Honestly if you jus want to S#%t stir, that nice. If you actually want to talk Turkey - jump over the the Blues 2005 - 2006 thread and put you r stats where your mouth is.

There is more evidence to come next week that Pagan has a great coach for our younger players, and with many more on our list next year he is exactly what we need.
Sticks and Mitchell?
May SOS have mercy on our souls.

These rumours just don't want to go away, so there maybe a small amount of "something" there. I just don't think the club has the cash to payout Pagan his remaining 2 years. It will certainly be an interesting summer down at MC Labour Park.

very interesting i was out in Moonee ponds on saty night and the carlton boys where there the bullants.

I was talking to a few of them and they cant stand pagan they say he has got no idea they have no game plan and they want mitchell as coach.
saying this these where the players they arent getting a game.

Your post is very interesting. Who were the players that said this?

Nah, I'm not here to stir BB, and I'm not here to bag Pagan either - I never have. Just letting people know what I was told. What's so bad about Barry Mitchell or Kernahan?

HBF - If Pagan stays the club pays him, if he gets the sack the club pays him.

You mean the players that have been given every opportunity to cement a spot in the seniors but did not measure up? Personally I would rather have the likes of Bower, Blackwell, Smith, O'Hailpin etc running around in the seniors, than Livingstone, Chambers, Teague, Prendergast etc.

I'm not against Pagan as much as some. But regardless of what you think of him, it's very hard to keep a coach after you've scored 2 spoons in a row. Sometimes someone new is needed, just to break the familiarity factor. having said that, the biggest mistake we could do is dump Pagan, and replace him with an ordinary coach like GT for example. Next year we'll be in a similar situation to StKilda a few years back. We need a coach that can take us all the way. I'm sure the Saints would have had at least one flag by now if anyone else was in charge and it now looks like their window of opportunity has closed. We don't want to make the same mistake. :)

Carlton Has Made Alot Of Stupid Mistakes In The Last Ten Years

- John Elliot
- Not Developing Young Talent
- Salary Cap Breach
- Getting Rid Of Hamill
- Kouta Contract
- Pagan Contract's

We Are Now Stuck With The Contract - The Last Thing We Want To Do Now Is Burn Up In Excess Of $1m.

Pagan Has To Stay - Simple As That

Id like to see Pagan have one more year, in all seriousness, how much further up the ladder could anyone else have gotten us?

I still stick to the excuse, not having the cattle.

We didn't get rid of Hamill. He wanted to leave, end of story.

Think Jack should be removed from that list too.

Agree. We were in a horrible situation when he came, and no one really knew just how bad it really was. We've now got the core of a good team - we probably need a few more quality players in our 22 to be truly succesful, but that will come as our youngsters develop and with the draft. Let Pagan go on next season, but if we don't see improvements than I'll not be happy. We've got a pretty good team and we should be aiming for atleast 7 wins.

Agree, but I'll take it one step further. Pagan has got two years left which gives him 3 years with the top talent. He should be given that opportunity given his record with young sides. If we don't play finals in 2008, he will gladly leave, and we will be glad to see the end of him.
Previous posts have reported the "miracle" that seems to over take teams with a change of coach - suddenly getting up and winning.
Is it because in 1 week the new coach has been able to change the game plans and get the players to work his way - or is it the players feeling guilty thattheir inept performance has cost the coahes job and they pull their finger out?
Whoelsale sackings/delsitings of players on the fringe will sort this out. Next year we will have a midfield able to support the dropping of so called starts (Stevens, Kouta, Hoops) if they don't perform. Stevens looks safe this year, but with Gibbs and Murph, all of a sudden young blackwell or bentick will be in the two's carving it up and putting all players on notice to perform or move out of the way.
This lack of selection pressure is another hidden factor in our missed draft selections. The really good players know they are a cut above the rest and aren't pushing themselves to excel.
This will change soon.

I hope Denis stays. I love the work he has done with our youngsters in turning them into complete player rather than a flash in the pan. I hope he finishes what he hast started.

Astute work this... I agree. Have a look at what happened after Scotland got dropped last year, or Stevens in the two games following the increased speculation he'd be traded.

Get real and have a look at what Dennis has done this year. Bar for the 15 minute lapse on Sunday. the Blues were on target to give Collingwood a real smacking. The lack of experience and senior players meant that, after Didak's hit on Scotland, we gave away 4 goals and the running to the Woods. Prior to this they couldn't get near us.

Dennis has done a great job with the kids this year and will be there for the next 2 years to take us back into the finals in 2008. Dennis isn't going anywhere!:thumbsu:

Well said BB. Agree with yourself and Oz here on this one.

Give him 1 more year and lets see if he can talk the talk (I hope he can!).

Too many rumours, speculation...nothing concrete.

For now Pagan is our coach, lets just rally behind him and the team and hope things gel together early next year.

I think all we need is an injection of confidence and a good pre-season and all will fall into place.

I think Pagan will stay, but as has been mentioned via media his support staff might be changed. That change of support might be all we need, as support staff do a hell of a lot of work too.

GO BLUES 2007

Hear hear. Frankly I'm sick of all the get rid of Pagan talk. The Player's that matter respect Pagan and serious students of the game can also see what he has and is doing with the Club and its playing list.

Gee whiz, we should sack the whole selection panel!!!!!!!!
So the players that aren't getting a game, who will probably be looking for new clubs are upset with the coach for not getting a game, or not creating a game plan to suit them - anyone aware of a single player who has EARNT a chance that has been unfairly handled by the coach, or who is worth changing the WHOLE TEAMS game plan to suit.

If this uncut diamond is lurking then name him!!!!

If its just:
Chambers (too slow and poor disposal under pressure)
Livo (too slow, poor skills, has been shattered by punching above his weight division)
Teague (too slow again, look lost on field)
Sporn (unable to step up to the next level, over and over)

then please don't respond.
