Some people on our board allegedly not happy with the spending on our football department - wanting to run it more like a business. Just reported on the Footy Show, so most likely untrue, but infuriating if true at all.

Honestly, if you want to run a business, go elsewhere. On-field success is the lifeblood of a football club; it influences your membership, your gate-takings, your sponsorship revenue, EVERYTHING. Plus, if you can make $1 million and win a flag, or $10 million profit and win nothing, a football club should always take the former. The fundamental function of a regular business is profit, so the two are radically different in what motivates their decision-making IMO.

There is surely more to it, but on the face of it - not happy.

That doesn't make any sense to me.
I would have thought the success we are having this year justifies what we are spending in the footy department.

And i'm sure I heard/read that Sticks said that now we are spending what we should be spending on the footy department, we'd be looking at reducing our debt.

Hope the players aren't as cocky.

Seriously, we are going to hit a flat spot at some stage so we really need to lock away these wins against the lower teams if we want Top 4.

Hopefully the Blues are really switched on and come out and be very clinical in their approach to the Lions.

I worry about any game with as many structural changes as what we have today. Not everyone is going to fire from day dot.

Too many forced changes brings this game a lot closer than what it would normally be in my mind.

Still anticipate a five to seven goal win.
