Higgins or Reid would be nice. I haven't seen too much of Reid but have heard very positive things.

And for what it's worth... Lucas is going to be a gun. I don't see why people are writing him off. He's in his second season and has great exposed form from last year. A few issues to work through but he has fewer deficiencies in his game than others that have come through for us recently (Ellard, Robinson, Walker for example).

Lucas is a must stay. This years draft should now be spent on "legitimate onballers". Buckley is one, tick but we must start pushing some through to replace the Judd's, Scotland's and Carrazzo's now.

McCarthy, Watson, Mitchell, Henderson, Casboult, Austin plus our ruckman gives us KP to develop. Jamison, Bower, Waite can do the majority of the job over the next 12 months.

Seriously, how good is this list coming together and with a bit of luck and development in the next 12-24 months we could be on some kind of ride.

If we only lost Lucas out of the Gold Coast and GWS 'raids' I'd be pretty happy.

Reid to my eye looks an elite KPF prospect, and is already performing very impressively at AFL level.

If we could swing the trade (which would be very difficult), why would we foresake an extremely talented youngster for the overly simplistic notion of 'developing our own'?

It's only simplistic if you disagree with it. I mean to say, we certainly have had to "forsake" plenty over the years. In fact, there are certainly many, divergent, ways you can achieve that.

Give us a little credit in knowing what usually occurs in these sorts of situations.

Given that Lucas is our direct replacement for Scotland, I would be tossing a 3 year contract at him and trying as hard as possible to keep him. He has only been on our list for 2 years and has the talent to be a lot better than Scotland used to be, considering that Scotland has been in the form of his life for the last season and a half.

We wouldnt be spending so much time on rehabilitating his running action to place less stress on his hamstrings if he wasnt considered to be a major part of our future.
