Only one club was interested when we were trying to offload Fev, and that club offloaded him a year later.

Yet his goal kicking record speaks for itself

We need a key position forward and would love to see Fev back at the club, but would hate to see a tight bunch of blokes who now play for each other loss that committment, because of disruptive Fev

Not really sure why people can't understand that.

bryce gibbs and eddie betts have said earlier in the year, that they would love to have him back!

Party pooper?
It's a shame that the players have to be dragged into any commenting on this situation.
Sooner have them not involved with these silly distractions.

Nail head...he's even doing it from outside the club ;)

Exhibit A: Western Bulldogs to see what one knob like Aker can do to a club. More will come out on both Fev and Aker as to how divisive and disruptive they were to their respective clubs.

Sign him as a rookie. Put him on the absolute base salary. Keep him in the Ants for four or so weeks, then if his performance and attitude are right bring him into the seniors. Let it be known to him that if he begins to cause division within the club or go off the rails he will be sacked immediately as we don't rely on him the way we did.

Hey should have said...."LET'S GET HIM AND WIN THE NEXT 3 FLAGS!! WE ARE CARLTON F*** THE REST" then opened a stubbie and sung stand up your man.

Ratten Promised us he would bring back the Carlton Arrogance of old!!

Last time I checked, goals from outside 50m was not an indicator of anything other than goals from outside 50m. Inside 50s on the other hand matter a lot, and your analysis sadly lacking in this regard.

Will you be launching 'bring back the torp' and 'Nathan Chapman to Carlton' campaigns too?

Who said they were an "indicator" of anything. They are however, 6 points on the board and potentially 6 points in a tightly contested game where opposition clubs choke our forward line and give our small forwards zero space to move in. Can you think of any games where this has happened this year? If you can't, then you haven't seen too many games.

ANY player who might be able to bring this ability to the club is still an improvement in what I see as an important aspect of the game. I couldn't give a shit about whether experts have validated it by counting it as a stat that they record and report on.

Everyone's happy to talk about Watson being able to break the press from defence by kicking over it, you don't think it's a valid strategy to break it at the other end of the ground the same way?

You guys need to separate your anti-Fev fervour from discussion of valid football strategy.

There's a big difference between a strut and a schmuck.

The funny though is, even if we somehow had a brain fade and wanted to get him, there'd be someone out there putting a spanner into the works.

I'd be delighted for Freo, St Kilda or the Bulldogs to pick up Fev and give him another chance. Hell, why not, the Bears have given Vossy two more years so let's hope someone (other than Carlton) gives Fev two years too. There, I don't hate him, I just don't think he'll improve our team.

As for you OBF, I'd encourage you to keep ignoring the experts (who happen to focus on the stats that matter) and the former Carlton greats (who know how to win premierships) in pursuit of your little obsession.

Thoughts - heard it all before !!

You have to realize, Fev has psychological issues - its not a discipline problem as such. He can't help it.

I can't recall the exact post but my understanding is he has ADD or something similar.

(apologies for being amateur psychologist but people have to realize there is more to the Fev issue than just suspend him for 6 weeks like Stevie Johnson and it will all be fixed !!).

Looks like this issue won't go away in a hurry so my two bobs worth.

Firstly I wouldn't place a lot of credence on what Murphy says, it's got to be a player party line as the last thing this group needs is distraction at this stage of the season. Besides he said "I don't think". Hardly a definitive statement.

At Fev's age and with his history you would think that the only clubs that would be interested would be those that a) need a power forward with a proven ability to kick goals and b) consider a premiership window very open. That, to me means Freo, Essendon and us.

I think it would be a mistake to go to Freo as the Brissy experience was a failure and being out of his comfort zone was IMO a contributor to that.

Our window is very open over the next 2-3 years (maybe longer if we recruit wisely) but I think an inform, disciplined Fev would open it wider. We need a sound power forward and it is likely that the potential ones we have will take a few years to realise any potential they have, just about the time that Fev would be hanging up the boots. May just help to keep the window open longer too.

Whilst, personally, I'd love to see Fev back in our colours (and I think he would play his best football for Carlton) I also recognise the danger. He would be cheap, he could be very good but he could also do irreparable damage.

Only the club can make this call and I am confident that they will make the right one, not based on desperation or prejudice and I'll be content either way.

Finally I don't think too many would have thought Tarrant would ever return to Collingwood but that seems to be working pretty well.

It adds to the most important stat of all ... "points for". The only stat that has equal bearing on a game is "points against".

Dude, if you look back at what started my comment, it was ODN suggesting that Fev doesn't fill a need that our club has, it reminded me of another need that our club has.

Personally, I don't care who the club uses to fill this need, I would just like them to find someone, because we don't have a plan (in fact, I doubt that there is one) that can effectively penetrate the flood. Cramming 30 odd footballers into the area defined by the boundary plus the 50 metre arc means that our smaller forwards lack the space to move. It's just a fact.

Perhaps not the money so much ODN, but he has said that when he is playing footy, nothing else matters. He can switch off ala Shane Warne, and we have all seen what he is like when he's in full flight on the footy ground.

I just wonder if falling as far as he did and being sacked from Brisbane, might just make him realise how great it is playing footy at the highest level, and how the penny might have finally dropped after all of these years.

I just can't help but think that if Carlton do go on and win a flag in the next year or so, how great it would be to have the big fella back in the goalsquare.
:thumbsu: These were exactly my sentiments in the Bring Back Fev thread.

As far as Murph's comments, I don't doubt that spokespeople at Carlton would be distancing themselves from the Fev debate. The last thing we want is that kind of distraction when we're going into the finals. Just like the issue of meeting Essendon in the first final has been handled at arm's length.

However, until there is a categorical "No" from the board, never say never.

Geelong won flags with Mooney, Hawkins and N.Ablett.

How many flags and games did we win with Fevola, Waite and Fisher playing together in 2009?

Two clean marking forwards and a Coleman Medallist, yet we were eighth.

Merrett smashed Fevola in the 2009 finals because he isn't a great contested mark.

Move on.

Only a fool would keep believing that Fevola is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

You really want to go through premierships sides. In most you'll see good KP forwards, often multiple ones. That includes Mooney. If you don't know that then you know nothing about football. Probably obvious anyway when reading your posts.

You haven't got one thing right about 2009. Fev kicked 3.6 in that final and gave 3 away, including that lovely pass to Stevens. Merritt killed him...hahaha! Ratten himself said he was rapt him his game. That year we made the finals for the first time since 2001, won 13 games and led by 30pts during the last qtr of the EF. Just to show how non-factual you are Waite was out for the season after round 8 with a knee reco and Fisher didn't play much not to mention a few defender missing. Cloke actually played CHF. Can't even get your facts straight. Good thing we never take you seriously.

If you think we are going to win a flag with long bombs to Eddie Betts you're sillier than I thought you were, and that's saying something.

Ok the Fev back to the Blues is supposedly done and dusted,so who's the next big forward we'll be chasing???
Robert Walls.

If Wallsy doesn't play well forward, then we can always throw him into the ruck.

Coincidentally, someone like Robert Walls is exactly the type of forward we need to find.

A genuine tall marking target, not a "receiver".
