Isn't ratts married with three kids?! Not that that stops blokes these days but wouldn't it have been reported somewhere if he had walked out on his family and shacked up with a player's x?

That's what I thought too but he's recently separated from his wife.

This rumour ahs sparked up again in recent days. Adelaide Radio suggesting Walker told Craig to shove it after he informed him he was dropped.
Given the fact Carlton have been into Walker for 6 months and have pretty much gauranteed to him that it he made the switch we would increase his pay packet by as much as $250,000 a year, we could be in with a shot.
 1 too many zero's there I think, a change of state wont make him an instant superstar to warrant that pay increase.

Yes please, would be an awesome acquisition and has massive upside, can play tall and small and a good set of dukes and very skillful

Won't happen though

I would LOVE the kid, but I hope that is over x3 years, not a year ........

Would offer up Jacobs for him. Think he would be great working with Henderson in the forward line, Walker at FF and Henderson at CHF.

That said, how does he actually play ??? More of a CHF or FF ??? Would he conflict with Henderson ???

Perfect fit as he is more of a FF. Craig was playing him out of position up the ground and struggled but thrives out of the goal square.

I would trade Jacobs for Walker in a heart beat. Not for that much but we may need to to get him across. Would do wonders for our structure I reckon. It is a bit of a gamble but I like what he brings to the table, aslong as he works on his defensive side.

Is that all you've got on Walker BIB? How heavily were we into him last year? Did this news come from your regular sources or...?

Does that mean increase by $250,000 as in on top of his wage already or to $250,000?

I read it to mean a contract worth $250,000 per year, over X amount of years.

X probably = 2 or 3

Paying well over the odds IMO. Good player, but I don't think he's worth that much.

What would suffice for us to get Taylor Walker? Would Jacobs and a second rounder be fair? Or too much? Has massive upside and we would play him permanently at full forward, has a bit of Tony Modra about him

I think it is entirely dependant upon whether Walker actually wants to leave, and whether or not he is under contract beyond this season.

If he is out of contract and states that he wants to leave, the notion of value and what he is worth is thrown out the window.

If he states that Carlton is his preferred/only plausible destination - well, then his value is diminished even further.

In terms of market value - Jacobs and a 2nd round pick would probably be fair, if not under the odds.

If we don't apply value to him, then Jacobs and maybe an upgrade of other picks, is what they'd be looking at in terms of compensation.

Yeah wouldn't have a clue on his contract status, but would be very excited if we somehow landed him, very unlikely I know but if our club can somehow talk to his managers and convince him the Blues are a good fit I'd be wrapt, it will be interesting to see if we are active at trade week, I have a feeling we might land a decent name but won't do much more than that

Considering our forward line might contain Kreuzer, Henderson and Waite next year we may not need Walker although he would be good. He might not be the best fit for us but still be a good fit, perhaps a defender might be better. Can see Hmmer and Warnock rucking and Kreuzer playing forward due to his injury and lack of a full preseason next year. Then again I can also see Kreuzer spending time in the VFL like Waite did.
I know we are all about the future at carlton and ppl see Kreuzer as more of a ruck but if we stick him forward and be patient and leave him there he might turn out pretty good and the three big guys might compliment each other well.

Just read on the Adelaide board and they are discussing it aswell with one Crows poster saying he heard it from another source aswell. Also a Collingwood poster had this to say:

i'll give you boys the tip - carlton are into taylor walker in a massive way. they are desperate to find another key forward and walker is priority no. 1. they are very very keen

Seems BIB is spot on again about where we are heading.

Look I know people like to float the idea of Krueze playing more forward but I just think we would be too top heavy with Krueze, Waitey and Hendo up there

With Walker, the good thing is he has the ability to play small or tall and could be a bit of wildcard for us, as he is not a quick, small fwd like Betts/Garlett or a tall KP player like Hendo, but would be somewhere in between

Our defense is still an issue, but we have plenty of upside waiting in the wings in the form of White, Austin etc

But we could kill x2 birds with 1 stone, playing Walker and Henderson at FF and CHF respectively, and send Waite back to the backline and swing him forward when needed ala Lake for the dogs later in the year.

Robbo (defensive forward) .......... Henderson ............. Betts
Yarran ....................................... Walker ................ Garlett

Looks pretty damn good, and they are all young (outside of Betts) and can grow as a unit together.

As for Kreuzer, how about playing him on the wing as a link up player ??? He has great hands, good speed and agility and is good below his knees for a big man. He would have minimal basg and crash, and can be eased back into the side.

I say persist with Austin, Jamo, White, Bird and Bower for now and target a KPF. The current stocks looks very thin when you consider the age of Waite and Carlos. Will be interesting to see what kind of pre season Casboult has but I'd like to get a sure fire future 30-60 goals p/year at least KPF.

What's this Kennedy bloke from WCE like?

Batten down the hatches and wait for the Gibbs for Walker suggestions from Crows fans & Malifice. :o :D
