Hopefully can do the anti-Dev and bloom the next 2 years. Would hate to see another talented young guy take the punt on breaking in and fail. He’ll go well, happy we had him in our sights at least it means we know what we need

Never a bad idea to ask the question.

I'm sure you've got plenty of other targets.

Happy for Sam and hopefully he can keep on building upon a great end to the season.
WA's a hard sell for people not from there, especially coming off a one win season.

Funny thing is, most of the blokes who move end up staying post-career and all say that if players actually moved there, they'd be keen on staying.

Having said that, the amount of travel would be a downer for players considering a move.

I'd take the 2nd rounder, other than tackling has been disappointing imo, I didn't want us drafting him so is as predicted, useful depth, might find a better role for him at another club?
Lol

His finals performances are just the tip of the iceberg
A full preseason and confidence in his leg, and he’ll be a fantastic addition to our midfield rotation

Don’t be silly.

Harley rejected us for more money.

Butler rejected you despite being offered more years, opportunity and money - he just simply had no interest in joining you.
Last time I checked, $19.8 million is a lot more than $3.6 million so no, Harley rejected Hawthorn for less money.

So for someone who has Butler in their keeper team as a fringe drop player with upside.

Hawks fans. Where does Butler sit in 26/27. Does he have a future in the midfield or is his role set up forward?

He looks promising in bursts. Looks like he'll benefit from a full preseason if he can keep the body right.

Would have liked to get Butler, especially with Chesser moving on. In any case, I hope WC avoid targeting Hawthorn players so I can avoid the drivel spouted by you lot.

Hi N4B - Butler was outside best 22 until he started to play significant midfield time at Box Hill. Until then his games were as a small forward. By the end of the season he was fringe 22. He can be expected to be the 4th/5th midfielder in season 2025.

He offers a point of difference to the players around him, his defensive pressure in both forward of centre and through the middle, has also shown he can hit the score board when his opportunity arise. He has worked himself into the mix, I think alot will come down to the structure the forward group runs with.

Harley just cashing in before his move back to Melbourne, 3 more wooden spoons, then you can’t blame the kid

I think he's a high half forward that can push into the middle in time. Not sure he's ever going to be a starting centre square type but I think he has a similar athletic profile/build to a Zac Bailey.

High energy, pace + agility and difficult to tackle. Kicking can be a little bit wayward.

Yes, because 11 is a bigger number than 2.

Guaranteed West Coast had an 11 year offer in front of Harley as well. He's playing it very smart because in 2 years he'll be in the perfect position to cash in on Tasmania'a newly announced 5m sign on bonus fund.

Would've been nice to secure Harley at the Hawks since he and Wiz are good mates, but it's not the end of the world that we didn't get him.

It's not like we've had multiple spoons and are coming off the back of an AFL record 1 win season
