Easy question: Does anyone know when it is?

Harder question: Where do you want/think our new boys will/should go?

For some reason I just see Sloane in a Bays jumper, and McKernan playing for Norwood. Tom Lee I could see at Sturt.

Players eligable are

Jackson Trengrove (Port)
Shaun McKernan
Rory Sloane
Tom Lee
Will Young
Jason Davenport (Port)
Ricky Henderson
Danny Meyer (Port) (maybe)
Daniel Stewart (Port)
Brian Donnelly
Jesse Laurie (Port)

considering theyre are 10 defenant and 1 maybe
I dont care about anything beyond pick 3
Order will be
Wests,South, North, WWT, Norwood, Port, Central, Sturt, Glenelg, Wests and South (unless picks 5-9 are in final positions after Finals)

Last year they were december 18th so it shouldnt be too far away.

I think Mckernan will go to Souths, Sloane to North:D, Young to Norwood, lee to Sturt, Henderson to Glenelg and Donnelly to Wests

Meyer will go back to Glenelg - same deal as Schmidt going back to Westies. Stewart is a North Adelaide player. So those two won't be in it. Mitch Banner from the Power will also be in the draft. 10 players altogether.

Most importantly though, you got the 6 Crows players right. Those are the only ones I really care about... Hopefully one of them ends up out at the Roosters

I honestly think Sloane will end up at the Roosters, But im expecting McKernan. We have Gill, Davis and Alleway as forwards. We dont need another one, whoever our coach is now (the ex Centrals player). From what I've just read about Henderson on todays training report, I would like to see him in the true big V.

And from the question of when. Last year it was on the 18/12/2007. So it will be on either Friday or Saturday.

I wasnt sure about Meyer, because he was recruited from an AFL club. Schmit i knew woul dgo back to were ever he came from, Stewart was apperantly recruited from Labrador, so I assumed he was a Queenslander. And I have never heard of Banner.

I think it's this coming Monday 22/12.

I believe it is Monday. Here is my mock draft:

1. West - Jackson Trengove
2. South - Shaun McKernan
3. North - Jason Davenport
4. WWT - Tom Lee
5. Port - Mitchell Banner
6. Norwood - Will Young
7. Sturt - Rory Sloane
8. Glenelg - Jesse Laurie
9. Central - Ricky Henderson
10. West - Brian Donnelly

I have heard whispers West will take Davenport. North at 3 are the interesting one, to be honest I don't want them landing a Crow. After what I saw today Henderson should be taken higher than #9 which I've got him, and given the fact he's a rookie he gives a club a bit of security with the pick. No doubt Donnelly goes last IMO, unless North take him because they don't want to be bothered with an AFL player.

All I want is Norwood to land a Crow, praying we get Lee. :)

Meyer and Schmidt's situations are exactly the same; both delisted by AFL clubs and picked up in the rookie draft.

I'd be pretty happy if Henderson ends up at the Bay.

Drummond wouldn't this be just too confusing with Andrew Lee just recruited from Essendon and also in the forward line

? With Walker probably in the AFL and Bown retired, Young would also be a good fit - I assume that both McKernan and Trengrove will be long gone by Norwood's pick!

People said the same thing re: Ports' and Crows' second round draft picks ;)

Also, I believe Young is expected to play as a defender.

Like I said on the Port board, sack the person who listed Stewart as a Labrador player!

He is a young gun from North and we will be keeping him next year thanks.

Funny comments from Drummond re not wanting Crow players at North. :)

Davenport should go no 1. He's by far the best player at this stage + he's on Ports fringe and probably won't get a lot of games with Port. He'll tear it up- he was ripping it up with Geelong's VFL side but couldn't get a look in with the AFL side as they have a few similar players.

My wild punt on the mini-draft from the other thread

1. West - Jackson Trengove
2. South - Shaun McKernan
3. North - Jason Davenport
4. Eagles - Mitch Banner
5. Port - Rory Sloane
6. Norwood - Tom Lee
7. Sturt - Will Young
8. Glenelg - Jesse Laurie
9. Centrals - Ricky Henderson
10. West - Brian Donnelly

North have already gotten themselves Davis who should play the whole season with them now
So anything above that is a bonus
Wouldn't mind Trengove or Davenport there

Yes you're right to say that Young was selected by the Crows as a defender, probably as a possible Bassett replacement. However, he has had enough success at CHF in junior football to play there for Vic Country and do well.

I don't think the Crows would mind at all if he played up forward for the Redlegs and made a success of it. (It is always harder to find forwards than defenders).

We also have Wade Thomson and some other Port guy as well. North and WWT were bluddy lucky, Port took 3 eagles and 2 roosters, while the crows took a rooster.

I dont care who we get, but am hoping for Sloane, with the youth and skill the Crows have at running positions, would Sloane get a game in the next few years? Roosters have a forward line. SO that leaves Sloane and all the Port buggers to take. Im hoping for Sloane.

Did some research into the Stewart confusion - Apparently when you nominate for the draft, you remain nominated for a number of years (2 or 3 I think), and Stewart nominated last year when he was playing for Labrador. So that's why he was listed as being from Labrador rather than North Adelaide - because that's the club he was at when he nominated for the draft.

I think similar things happened with several NT players (and possibly Hentschel? not sure about him) being listed as drafted from their NT clubs when they had actually been playing in the SANFL.

Sloane would likely play a couple of matches in 09 but that's it.

Yes this is the reason why but it's still a disgrace.
He would never have been picked up if it wasn't for North I reckon. At least we get to keep him next year though.
