I've seen a few derby tickets show up on Ebay. Is this a good sign of our capitalist system working, or a bad thing that shows that people who aren't real fans are getting first crack at the tickets ahead of true supporters?

In this instance, as opposed to general scalping, you couldn't have bought the ticket without being a member. So you are automatically a genuine fan. Sure you could have just not bought one and left it for the next member, but it is hardly on a magnitude of say concert ticket scalping.

There's probably weavil members who either can't go - or don't want to go (scaredy cats... ;) ) trying to flog them too. Although they do a membership buy back for certain games, don't they?

I don't have a problem with scalping like funky described. If there's a market and people are prepared to pay a few extra dollars, then I s'pose it's fine. The market will determine the amount the scalpers can charge - I certainly wouldn't pay too far over and above the actual price... but that's just me.

But one seller seems to be selling 12 tickets. So either they got their hands on 12 membership tickets and none of those people wanted to go, plus had 2 people in the queue, as it was a max of 8 per person, or they got some form of corporate/sponsorship/other tickets.

The ticket itself does not seem to outright ban its resale... at least on the ticketfast-self printing tickets, it just says if you buy this ticket from someone other than ticketmaster, it may not be real, so be cautious.

But that would mean "lending out" your plastic ticket to a stranger you met on ebay??? With the final Eagles home game and finals to go...I doubt anyone, even an Wiggles fan would be that stupid.
One of the listings actually names the seat numbers... interesting to see if security/eagles memberships/ticketmaster do anything about it.

I wouldn't give a crap if someone is selling a ticket is a few dollars above the cost price. The person selling had to go to the hassle of buying the thing.

It's when people try things like asking double the value+ for their ticket they can shove it.

Automatically a genuine fan? I dont think so. Not neccesarily true. Theres quite a number of Eagles and other club supporters I have seen with dockers season tickets for example. They are not neccesarily docker supporters.

As for the main topic, I wouldnt be suprised if there is plenty of scalping. There are those crazy people out there, Ive seen some in action in reagrds to derbies and finals etc.

utter ********ers, hang them all...

It probally does stem somewhat from ticketmaster 7 no refund policy.
