we do have players in the VFL squad that aren't on our AFL list and just play VFL like Selwood for example. But what really confuses me is how you think Scarlo would take the spot of a forward? I don't know what you are smoking tonight but I'll have some.

The opportunity to have a champion defender playing alongside up and coming players and teaching them what is what, would be terrific. But I am dreaming I guess.
The great man has earns the right to walk away from the club for awhile, can't blame him it has been a magnificent career and I'm sure he just wants to have a kick with mates without the pressure of being a VFL / AFL player.

I said forward as that's where he wants to play at SB [so someone said].Also he said he wants to play with his mates at SB,not his mates in the VFL.Why can't you just accept hes gone ?
Do you want to stack the VFL with 30yo players who retire then go and play in the VFL for a few seasons ?

Selwood,McLean and co are a bit different, they are still players who could get drafted later in their careers like Pods did.You need some wise old heads in the VFL,not players who just want to have a kick with mates and not do much training anymore.

my my you have your panties in a twist on this one. I'll leave it be as I see you are too emotional about the topic

Scarlett must think the current game is a bloody joke!

He will really enjoy country footy. The quality is terrific and the game is umpired like it should be.

Yeah you can punch pests like Ballantyne and actually get away with it in country footy. Not advocation violence of course but the honest square up is well and truley at home in country footy.

Can't really see anything emotional there? Thought it was a decent explanation on why the VFL side doesn't want somebody whose heart isn't in playing at that level anymore.

Maybe Scarlo playing in the GFL next season was the real reason Russell Robertson retired from St.Joey's. :p

Can't blame the bloke he must still be seeing the therapist over the way Scarlo used to beat him like a red headed step child

I dont normally hang around a game after a loss, but i made a point of staying and clapping Scarlo off after the final loss this year. Maximum respect and he can do whatever he wants in my book. Looking forward to watching him in local footy next year. Its great to see someone actually giving a bit back to country footy.
