I know this thread is pointless but I'm just curious.

Apart from Telstra Stadium being a crappy stadium and SCG being brilliant (my personal favourite outside MCG), i want to know where Swans fans would rather their team play.

Also my second query and the reason I started this thread is I want to know the stats and if statistically since 2001 have the Swans preferred TS or SCG. From what I've seen they seem to play worse at TS. Any answers? Anyone understand what I'm talking about?

They are 13-5 overall at Telstra Stadium and 33-15 at the SCG since the start of 2002. I prefer the close-knit sort of feel of the SCG.

Just looking at a few of the SCG results, i can't help but feel there were some games we should never have lost. In 2006, the loss to St Kilda by 2 points. The loss to Melbourne where we couldnt kick straight and Bruce kicked a late winner. In 2004 where the Roos kicked 9 goals to 2 in the last qtr to steal a 6 point win and maybe there might of been 1 or 2 more, like the abysmal game against Richmond in 2004 as well.

I hate TS, the atmosphere there is crap. I love everything about the SCG, the atmosphere, my seats, the people i sit near.. everything is better there.

Both! I think we had a similar thread wayy back last year or so.

SCG is really tightly-knit and it makes everything so cosy. Memories will flood all the time when i enter the ground. But the toilets suck.. c'mon need better ones.

TS is much closer to me than the SCG since i live in the Western Suburbs. TS is very big and there's hardly any cheering. It feels like something is missing...

The Swans seem to play the longer ground at Telstra better, and since football is about winning I would prefer they played there whilst that is the case.

That and I have just moved to Sydney, and will be getting a place fairly close to TS so it suits me :p

SCG is a stadium with atmosphere. I despise going to Telstra but aside from it being souless and seeming to lack that same atmosphere it is also not in my neighbourhood and I ahte getting there and hate getting home even more.

It may sound trivial but you can at least go for a beer or something to eat before or after the SCG games.

You can always just go to the McDonalds near TS. ;P

Anyway, i don't like the whole getting there and leaving either. We usually park in the carpark at TS and my goshh, it takes so long to get out after the game. After a game at the SCG is so much easier. We park in the girls school, so we just walk over and leave straight away and are on our way home, but with TS you gotta sit and wait to get out of the carpack for like 10/15 mins. I hate it.

The bathrooms are way better at TS though, seeing there's so many more and at the SCG bathrooms near my bay there is one where the door won't lock.. it's awful.

I honestly think we have out grown the SCG. Its just too small and too tight.

I was watching a game from 1983 at the SCG the other day Sydney VS Bombers and the ground itself used to look so big compared to today! The hill and the old stands gave it this perception of it being a huge ground.

That pretty much sums it up for me too. Plus I am in Bay 29 where we love Barry. It's like "WALKING IN A MAGIC WONDERLAND" every time I walk into Gate C. :thumbsu:

foodwise I have no gripes about either one. the atmosphere always seems to be better at the SCG though but for me Telstra is the closer one. when its chock a block full at Telstra (like I'm predicting for RD1 V WCE game) the atmosphere is excellent. So I guess I'm neutral, although with the redevelopment of the SCG this should hopefully bring a much better atmosphere

I lovee Bay 29. You must sit nearish to me if you're near the "walking in a magic wonderland" people. I can't wait till round 3 to see the people who sit behind me and the man at the front of the bay.. aw, he's so cute! Me and my sister saw him at the GF last year and i almost had a heartattack i was so excited.

well I'm looking forward to my seats in the front tier of the top deck of the Churchill which has become the spot for the players outside the team to sit. I'll look forward to letting Benny Matthews know about the Big Footy prognosis - I'll give my continued support though.

as a spectator, i prefer SCG. TS is a bit of a shocker in terms of atmosphere, its only good there when its close to capacity (which is quite difficult to achieve).

but as for a player, or our gameplan, i think TS in my opinion.

so, would i prefer to swans to stick with SCG or TS? i'd say SCG!

Apologies for breaking into your thread here but while you guys are talking about grounds (I am not trolling), I just happened to walk around the old Lakeside Oval in South Melbourne (its a bloody soccer ground now) but it really did bring back some fantastic memories of every second Saturday that I spent in the grand stand there as a kid.

On a sad note is the state of dis-repair that the old grand stand is in at present with cyclone fencing and barb wire around it. For those Melbourne based and old Sth Melbourme supporters, didn`t the State Govt pledge to restore the old grand stand a few years back?

The Hellas are waiting for it to rot to the ground before they go in and demolish it. As it stand they can't do jack to it. I am surprised no ones set fire to it..its very fragile. I climbed in once and walked into the old change rooms and had to be very careful as its literally hanging by a thread. BUT i did get some eerie sensations while i walked inside the room as if i could feel the spirit of Pratt. The hellas can go to buggery anyway for wanting to charge us after the 05 win to use it the next day.

Its a shame that the ground was given to the hellas..why didn't; the govt take control of it?

I agree, that was disgraceful what the soccer club tried to do to us. I supporter the South Melbourne Soccer Club up to that point, no longer I support them or Soccer. The Government should take control of it and put it under heritage listed

I reckon the soccer clubs bit of stand and crap seating looks in as bad a shape as the old Sth Melb grand stand. It just angers me to see such an iconic piece of Sth Melbourne history being allowed to rot like that.

It just shows that there are not too many real old time Sth Melbourne residents still in the area because the current residents are too busy hugging trees at Grand Prix time.

If I was still living in South Melbourne I would be asking the Soccer club to fix it up, that's for sure. I would try and do my bit.
