Your thoughts?

I reckon she is innocent. Poor girl.

Just watched that doco as well. SO many things dont make sense for her wanting to do this.

That woman is guilty as hell. I'm not going to say her name because that will give her far more publicity than she and her family of clowns deserve.

1. Who in their right minds would carry a massive 4kg bag of weed, through not one, but TWO, airports if they were trafficking it intentionally. There are direct flights from Brisbane to Bali.

There's two parts to this answer. First, An idiot who thought they could get away with it. The second is our government will do anything to get Australian of scot free when they break the law in other countries.

2. The Cannabis was never tested, there is no security footage of the bag being handled or anything.

It's out there. Trust me.

3. They tried to make her sign a form at the airport saying she confessed.

Because the evidence was stacked totally against her that a confession would have expedited the process. That woman knew that by refusing, the authorities would have gone through the legal system which guaranteed her freedom.

4. When asked whose bag it was by Indonesian customs, she said 'Mine'. Without a second thought and took ownership of the bag.

If this part of the whole story doesn't indicate her guilt, I'm going to presume you're high or stupid.

5. The rumours of Mercedes and her husband's alleged surf shop, which has not been found or proven to exist. Mercedes made a good simplt point in the doco, "If we owned a surf shop why would Schapelle bring her boogieboard, she could just borrow one".

Good grief, if you believe anything that comes out of the mouth of that woman's loud mouthed, egostical lying cow of a sister, you're more stupid than I thought. FYI, It's S-I-M-P-L-E not S-I-M-P-L-T

6. The testimony of a fellow inmate who over heard other prisoners talking about how the drugs fell into the wrong hands. The bloke risked his own personal safety in order to this.

It's a well known tactic that people with prison connections will make up stories to support a not guilty.

I
t just doesn't sit well with me. Since she has been in that hellhole, her Grandmother and her father have both passed away as well, and I was basically imagining my sister or whatever in the same situation. I would be devestated.

It's her own fault for being stupid enough to take drugs into a country with the death penalty. Also, it's D-E-V-A-S-T-A-T-E-D, not D-E-V-E-S-T-A-T-E-D.

My dad reckons she is guilty, yet can't provide me with a reason for this. So frustrating arghh

Your father is a smart man. Pity it didn't rub off on you LOL

Guilty, but she has done her time, so wish she would just disappear into oblivion never to be heard of again. But the media make such a frenzy of it, she will profit and we will have to hear several versions of what did and didn't happen over and over again.

The media have a lot to answer for.

Don't get the hypocrisy. Many many people have and do take drugs in Australia. (even was a thread on this board a while back). Yet when confronted with a dealer out comes the Holier than Thou string them up string them up. Where do they think the drugs come from?

Guilty as. Whether she put it there or it was a fmaily member is something different.

I still struggle to see how she got caught. Customs in bali is probably the leanest anywhere in the world. Have been there 8 times over the last 5 or so years and have never been stopped once.

If you wanted to smuggle shit in it would cost $150 bucks max to get it past customs. $100 to the official and a bottle of johnnie walker and your through.

Not when I went. Approx 10 lines 100 deep walk through and pay for your Visa and then nearly everyone was stopped on the way through to baggage.

Australia can be lax. 3 times through customs had luggage opened and searched, last time line was getting long officials just said f it and let through the next 20 people basically rubber stamping the card and then strolling through the baggage check desk.

If you want to stop something from happening you've got to impose tough penalties. This is what they've done and they have every right to do it.

People know that if they want to smuggle drugs into the country they're taking a big risk. Some people obviously still think it's worth the risk despite the huge penalties. Some people are obviously very desperate and/or very stupid.

In Bali you mean. It has stopped nothing. The streets are awash with drugs.

I did laugh at some news reporter reporting on the media frenzy...while they were part of the media frenzy.

Bit like reporters during cyclones standing on beaches and yelling into the mic "and incredibly, people are still outside!". Not a hint of irony.

**** off and leave her alone.

Those news reporters are just asking to be hit by a piece of flying debris or a strong gust of wind that makes them fall over.

Dude, it wasn't a stitch up job. She was guilty in every sense of the word. So do you think the slap on the wrist nature of Australias policing on drugs is working?
Don't let the fact that people don't regularly and openly approach strangers on the street to sell drugs give you the illusion that drugs in this country aren't as big an issue here as it is in these "backward places".
Sending people to death or into prison for years certainly doesn't work either.

Drug users aren't forced to buy drugs off people. They have a choice. Hardly like selling weed to someone is a life ruining action either.

The approaches of both countries are rubbish because you're never going to win the war.

As for Schappelle. Dumb bogan who got caught. Can't believe a decade or whatever it is later the media is still frothing at the mouth over her. Bogans must be lapping it up for the media to care so much about such a shit story.

Good on ya for quoting comments from almost ten years ago. But since you've done it I suppose I'd might as well respond.

I never said it's stopped anything. I just said it's their right to impose whatever penalties they want. And if people choose to take a chance despite having full knowledge of the penalties they indubitably deserve to suffer those penalties, no matter what the bleeding hearts think.

Nobody at all can argue that penalties are too tough when people still decide the risk is worth taking despite having full knowledge of the consequences.
Anybody who gets caught smuggling drugs into Indonesia deserves whatever punishment they get.

I'm sick of all the Schapelle talk anyway. She's done her time and should be just left alone. The media are a total joke. It's hilarious that they've been given the runaround and "dozens" of them caught the wrong plane, expecting to be flying with Schapelle.

Time to move on and let Schapelle get on with her life.

Fair point.

So I take it you are OK with gays getting stoned to death in the Middle East, Dissenters getting electrified in North Korea, Political opposition imprisoned in Russia, Refugees been processed in Manus Island?

Rules are rules after all.

Hitler's supporters thought the same way after all.

In breaking news, Schapelle's instagram account has 150K followers.
Channel 7 breaking the huge stories.

Proceeds of Crime Act means she'd be pretty stupid to even try. Think the Corby's have already dealt with this issue in the past.
They were stupid

As long as she doesnt profit directly she will be paid. With a complex off shore setup millions will flow in to it. The decision to go after her will be pollitical.

Do you follow all the rules of BF? Even the stupid ones?

People say Schapelle chose to take the risk. Well they choose to take Hard Drugs? Why does the dealer wear all the risk?
I could write a long response but I feel like they're making money off peoples misery (addicts) so that's the risk they pay for the reward. In an age where AFL clubs are looked down on for making money from Pokie machines I don't think drug dealers can look to pass the buck.

People can absolutely bag the laws of other countries. These countries are completely backwards in their thinking when it come to thing like drugs because they're either poorly educated or have despicable leaders. We can criticise them without being defenders of idiots like Corby. I find it despicable that you can get thrown away in a jail for a decade plus over there for carrying pot on you while over here in our own country you can almost do the same amount of time for some truly horrific acts.

Of course if you're stupid enough to go over to these countries and try to bring in gear than you can't say anything because you knew the risks.
