He's been our most effective user from the backline when he's been there and is still a regular, crucial element of our midfield. Most have him in the top 5 or thereabouts in the B&F for the millionth time. Disagree with your post.
Don't need to give him 3 years. Just year by year contracts. He aint going anywhere

I get what your saying but the more I've watched him this year the more I feel like he's just too slow at times... repeatedly getting caught holding the ball etc...I think his leadership skills and at times midfield minutes are still quite useful but I wouldn't be giving him 3 year deals. Happy to do year by year contracts and take it from there. Anyways we are all entitled to our opinions

There's no doubt that Pendles is slowing down and getting caught more frequently (but not too frequently) than he used to. However, he is still very valuable and his contribution, on pure stats alone, stacks up against the best in the comp. Couple this with his superior leadership skills and vast experience and he is a lock in our best 22 every week. I see him remaining so for another season, at least. I agree though, that a contract extension beyond a year is not prudent.

As much as I love the bloke I think we'd be crazy to sign him for another 3 years. The last couple of games have showed how much he has slowed down and not as effective as what he used to be. I feel the game is going past him a bit. By all means retain for another year for leadership but I have doubts to sign him on for another 3

I doubt they’ll be offering a three year contract but it wouldn’t surprise if he were around for the next 3 years.

STATS THAT MATTER: Collingwood skipper Scott Pendlebury (9015 possessions) became just the fourth player to pass 9000 career possessions during his team's thrilling four-point win over Hawthorn. Only Kevin Bartlett (9151), Brent Harvey (9213) and Robert Harvey (9656) have tallied more.

He should pass Bartlett and Brent Harvey this year and be number 1 by end of next year on about 380 games.
You’d play another season going for 400, wouldn’t you?

I think we are a bit harsh on his high standards hes had through his career, his "slowing down year" is still as good as most players

Averaging 23 disposals (typically very good ones too) as a flanker / midfielder in a team that doesn't tend to have many players get high disposal numbers is pretty solid for anyone playing that role, particularly a 34 year-old

Good from him but tbh quite often in media places he is named in the best on reputation methinks. He has had a solid year without starring.

Pendles is my all time favourite Collingwood player and is still in our top 5 but i see signs in him that his body cannot do what his mind wants him to do. I think he is the best captain we can possibly have at the moment given the profile of our side but am a little alarmed at the Taylor Adams type mistakes he has making. Hope he can make it to 400 games but i feel it might be a struggle.

We are so used to Pendles excellence that I find his player thread on page four of our board.....
His superhuman feats barely rate a mention.

Anyway, totally but sort of not really off topic.

Did anyone else spot Pendles young fella in the circle in the rooms after the game and "regard him with envious eyes"?

He must be five-ish by now.

When can we sign him?

Congratulations on game #350 Scott! It’s been a privilege watching you do what you do for our great club. Hopefully you’ve still got a but more in you after this.

His house in Elwood is currently on the market - maybe he is preparing for a move south? Asking plenty for it.

Pendle's WAG was unnerved by Juddy's WAG and thought the Brighton crime spree might spread

Fair enough but it does not necessarily align with coaches votes.

Have to say his output has waned recently. Doesn’t seem to have that time and space as in the past. Getting caught regularly.
But when the chips are down, like last Saturday it is he and other old timers, that we turn to to get us over the line.
While it’s always great to see him rise to the occasion and influence the contest, we need to have others take over his role.
Congrats on game 350 Pendles. Hope you get to 400.

That contested mark he took in the last quarter was Howe like.
