I'm interested in opposition supporters ratings of these two young mids. Many Melbourne supporters would have Trengove the equal of Scully, but what is the consensus of those without conflicted interests.

I love both and reckon they compliment each other. It's difficult to crystal ball gaze, but try.

Prefer Trengove as a player, more versatile and has a bit more fire and leadership about him. Can see him being Melbourne captain one day, in fact I'd just about make him captain now ahead of Green who isn't a captain's arseh*le.

Scully is a good player too but I'd take Trengove ahead of him if offered the choice.

That's my take on it- especially the make him captain over Green part.

I'd probably take Trengove, but Scully is playing with barely any fitness base and pre-season.

Next year will be a telling one.

Yeah, will be interesting to see who wins when they match up head-to-head for Melb v GWS.

Aha good gag sir! Showing off that Collingwood intellect there eh?

I think both will thrive under Mad Mick next year at the Dees.

Trengove the more complete player early, but Scully could be anything.

Scully will the the superstar but Trengove will be the player who's really doing all the work in the engine room. The gut ball winning, the directing of troops, the fancy skills, etc.

Very surprised at the poll results. I rate Scully a lot higher. Trengove will be a Scott Thompson-esque good at everything but not great at anything type IMO. Scully's inside ability combined with his running power could be anything IMO. I can't think of a single defensive player who could go with him both in the packs and around the ground.

I really rate trengove he's a good player but Scully + a proper pre-season could be the next Judd

I prefer Trengove. As mentioned, seems to be good at everything, but not great at anything. Will be a great leader for the Demons.

Scully can be amazing. He got 19 disposals in the last quarter vs the Bulldogs last year, as a first year player.

Scully...

I think Scully has the ability to be a top 5 player in the competition at his best, but don't think Trengove will reach those heights...although he's still going to be a very good player.

Trengove is more versatile and better overhead, but what separates Scully is his ability to win the ball at stoppages, breakaway with his acceleration and/or give off a lightning handball and accumulate another possession or two in the chain with his workrate, which Trengove can't do...a bit like what separates GAJ from Jimmy Bartel.

You heard it here first. Trengrove will be the next premiership captain for the Melbourne Football Club.

He may not be as good a player (just) than Scully but give me the exceptional player with the heart the size of Pharlap and outstanding leadership ability over the marginally better player lacking those same incredible qualities (not to say that Scully doesn't have potential as a leader but he doesn't strike me as a captain type leader).

Trengove. If I had to choose one for North is would be Trengove. Neitrher will end up as good as Martin though.

Honestly, Trengove at the moment.

I still believe Scully will be better and it will be interesting seeing him next year (cue GWS jokes :o)

Probably a fair call, but I think Trengove will win games off his own boot
