GWS star forward Jesse Hogan will undergo surgery on his right foot, AFL Media's Josh Gabelich has reported. Hogan has been required to manage the concern for the majority of the season, which hindered an otherwise strong 2025 campaign, kicking an average of 2.9 goals per game. The 30-year-old missed five of his team's final eight home-and-away games with the lingering issue, but returned in style in the Giants' elimination final loss to Hawthorn, booting three goals.

Gabelich reported that the navicular bone Hogan had surgery on in 2019 is believed to be causing some of the concerns, with the surgeon "planning to remove bone spurs in his foot" and will check on the screw from the initial surgery. Recent scans have indicated that the navicular bone is fine.

The Giants believe Hogan will recover in time for their 2026 pre-season, which begins in November.

Fingers crossed that it's a relatively simple clean-up job and quick recovery.

The good news is no one will be tipping us for the premiership next year… and I reckon a lot will have us missing the 8.
We’ve never done well when we were prem favourites at the start of the season.
