It’s the battle of 7th vs 8th this week at The Colosseum between a team on the rise again and a team, despite a win last week, slipping down the ladder. The Wonders are coming off a 4-game win streak after a thrilling 3-point win over the Bears in Round 12. The Hawks on the other hand are coming off a 15-point loss to the Roys and will be looking to keep their season alive with a win here.

How each team is performing?

Wonders

After a disastrous start to the season in which they looked Wooden spoon contenders, the Wonders have finally fixed up their defensive woes and found a bit of form. They have won their past 4 games and sit 7th on the ladder with 6 wins, 6 losses and a percentage of 84.31.

Hawks

Whilst far from poor, the Hawks have not had a great season and their season is on the line. Whilst a loss wouldn’t be the end of them here they will still want to get a win in order to avoid sliding further. They have lost 3 of their past 5 games and sit in 8th position with 5 wins, 7 losses and a percentage of 95.91.

Last time they met

These two teams last locked horns in Round 2 at Waverly Park which was one the Wonders would have wiped from their memory. The Hawks dominated from start to finish kicking 6 goals 2 in the first quarter to the Wonders 3 goals 2. The Hawks went into half time leading by 7 goals. The struggling Wonders managed to only boot 2 in the third quarter whilst the Hawks kicked 10. In the end, the Hawks smashed the Wonders with a huge 90 point win. @The Jesusdominated in the ruck with 22 hit outs, 26 disposals and kicked 2 goals, whilst Biggie and larrikan kicked 8 goals between them. Cactus_ Sab22 and okeydoke7 who kicked 5 goals starred for the losing side.

Players to watch

Wonders

Okeydoke7

Booted 5 goals in a 90 point thrashing the last time these teams met and kicked 6 against the Bears in Round 12. If he could kick 5 in a thrashing, how many would he kick in a closer game against the Hawks?

JT_the_man

Got 24 disposals, 3 marks and a DT of 74 against the Bears in Round 12 in what was a low stats game.

Hawks

The Jesus

Was best on ground last time these two teams met, his competition U2tigers seems to be down on form lately so this is his chance to back that up. Was also Hawks best in Round 12 accumulating 19 hit outs, 26 possessions and kicked a goal

Agent93

The new Hawks skipper was one of their best against the Bears with 26 disposals, 5 tackles, a goal and a DT of 96.

Prediction:

Hawks in a close one, 5 points.

Captains please remember to post your team sheet in the official team sheet thread by the 11:59pm Thursday
