it states the most you can buy in one transaction is 8 tickets and if memory serves me correctly from doing this last year, you have no say and where you are given seats..

You get assigned the best available seats in line with the time you ring up ie if you one of the first to register at 7.30am on the 20/9 you should get the best available Crows seats. Whatever that means.

Does anyone know the difference in Premium and Prime (other than the bleeding obvious - cost)?

All I can do is show you the seating plan for the Grand Final at the MCG. From the looks of it, Premium seats are not exactly in the best position to watch the game from

Thanks, Stiffy. Actually, the second level isn't too bad (reminds me of the Docklands). Personally, need a bit of elevation but not too much.

I remember the 1997 GF, was on the bottom level 2nd row from the front in the Ponsford Stand pocket (near the AFL members). Couldn't see a bloody thing if the ball was up the other end. Never again.

I also like a bit of elevation thats why I am on the members balcony :D

Prefer the wing but I guess, since its a GF, being there is good enough :thumbsu:

Your right.

So does anyone want to get together and do a 1 transaction so all 8 of us are sitting together.

BigFooty Crows Army? Who has gold seats?

New MCG doesn't have any of those bad seats where you could hardly see over the fence like they used to have in the Ponsford.

The closer to the action the better in my book. Sat just near the Crows bench (4th row) a couple of weeks back at the G and they were amazing seats.

I'm a gold member and got my letter thingo today.

Pardon my ignorance, but it says from 7.30 Wed 20th Sept. that we can book our tickets (priority 1) but we wont know if we are in the grannie then so what happens if we book and we get knocked out in the prelim?

Nothing really. It cost you $7 per ticket to book. So if we don't make it you lose that $7. If we do make it, then you credit card gets charged for the cost of the tickets (including the booking fee of $7 per ticket).

In what part of the MCG are you thinking about booking tickets for, what category?

Talking about it last night to the people we are going to go over with (if we make it), we originally were going to try and get ‘premium seats’ (as I was to be as close to the fence as possible) but going by that seating chart, it looks like ‘Prime seats’ would be the better option.

From my understanding, you've got absolutely no control over where you sit.
There's no option to say: "I'd like a premium ticket, I'd like a prime ticket, I'd like to be on level 2". You just have to accept what you're given.

I'd expect Crows priority 1 supporters would be roughly grouped together, though.

Correct - IIRC from last year- when you ring up - you don't even speak to a real person (?) - just enter your barcode and away you go. I knew I had Premium tickets last year because of the amount that was debited to my card (for one day).....but you don't find out where they are until you either pick up your tickets or they are sent to you.

With all due respects to the MCG, I am not going to be bloody happy if I have to pay $189.00 for a ticket on level 3.

Seating allocation

Tickets to the Grand Final will be issued on a strictly ‘best available’ basis and members will have no choice of ticket category. Booking will be recorded strictly in order of receipt and tickets issue in the same order. The first members to book will be allocated with the best seats.

Members who wish to sit with others should book their tickets in one transaction. Up to 8 bar codes can be entered in their one transaction with tickets issued adjacent to each other.

$189.00 is a large amount of money, times that by 2 adults and a child (concession) $120.00 = $500.000. Ticketmaster should give patrons an option of what category they buy and then it becomes first in first served.

Unfortunately there aren't any other more attractive options. You have to be prepared to pay a maximum of $189 for a ticket and realise that you have no control over the position of those seats. The only other option is to not register next Wednesday and try to buy tickets on the day or to check out eBay. In that situation, you'd know where you're sitting ... but you'd also almost certainly have to pay a fair bit more than $189.

It's a GF mate....:thumbsu:

Some St Kilda people who had been paid up members for 40 years missed out on a ticket in 1997.........I think the way they allocate tickets is fine. It's a privilege to be there....:thumbsu:

The amount of tickets is another story of course.....

I will be ringing Ticketmaster from 7:25am (CST) on Wednesday the 20th of September.

I am a priority 1 (gold) member so if we start ringing early, I will have every chance at getting seats that match my preferred location.

Monday - 5am at BASS
Wednesday - 7:25am on the phone to Ticketmaster.

Bring it on. :thumbsu:

Well guys, this is where being an AFL member is the way to go. last year at the GF we sat dead on the wing, level 1 about 15 rows back! was awesome! And we werent even swans or WC fans. this year if the crows make it, we get our tickets a day earlier than last year. same day as crows gold members, but we'll be in the blue area on that map, and because we use 12 phone lines to get through when the tickets go on sale, im suggesting that we'll be in prime position again! hopefull to watch the mighty crows bring home another cup!!

Thursday/ Saturday at BASS mate :)

If you find when you receive your tickets that they are in the nose bleed section you can always get to the ground early and get a good standing room position. I know standing isn't quite the same as sitting, but at least you are closer to the action. :o After the final siren sounds most neutral supporters or opposition supporters leave the ground so you can get pretty close to the fence for the after match celebrations!!

Really going to the Grand Final is just about being there and soaking in the atmosphere!!
