Ok I'm obviously biased, but pies fans will be too. But we all agree that these two are modern day greats.
Both were drafted similar time (05 Pendles and 06 Sel), and there has been comparisons- however both are very different players.
If you could draft one knowing what they were to become, who would you choose?
Who is the better player?

Selwood is a goer but he doesn't have the class to get to the level of a Pendlebury.

He's a little bit better than a "goer". I think because his courage/toughness is always highlighted that people forget how skillful he is by hand and foot.
Not as polished as Pendlebury, but I'd argue he hurts teams more.

Selwood v Danger would be a better poll. Pendles sits marginally below Fyfe and Ablett, and he sits alone.

Both are stars obviously, but consistency is often the key to splitting players. Selwood has his fair share of off days. Can't remember the last time Pendles had a really off day.

Based on pure aesthetics Pendlebury is probably considered better as he's just so smooth. However, Selwood is all class too even if he doesn't look as 'smooth' as Pendles. I'd take Selwood overall (and only just) because I think he is one of those 'moment' players that takes the bull by the horns when his teams needs something and gets it done. One of the best at dragging his team along...........cliche.....wills himself etc etc...... Bit corny but I reckon it's true.

However, just as I said Selwood's class doesn't pale against Pendles, choosing Selwood for his leadership isn't a poor reflection in any way on what Pendles also provides as a leader.

Both champs.

Biased Cat voted Selwood. Pendles buys time but give me grunt! Having said that though Pendles certainly had a better year than Joel who had to carry the whole midfield by himself this year.

For most of their careers I think Selwood has shaded Pendles. More consistent and more likely to strike at the big moment. Has just fallen off the pace a little now so maybe Pendles just shades him now. Both great, nothing in it.
