Is throwing Gillard into the ruck an admission that maybe Campbell should of played .
Pearce very clearly can't do it all alone anymore, it's been pretty obvious this season when she's jumped over

So is the fact we played 1 good quarter in the finals on the coach or the players? Was bizarre? Too structured? Defensive? Was like a different team in that last quarter.
Bit of both, probably. We looked half-assed in the first 3 quarters, all our players being outworked easily by Geelong. Mindset not there? Coach needs to have them raring from the start but after the dismal performance the week before they shouldn't have needed much motivation.

Coach could've swung someone onto Morrison/Prespakis too.

But very bizarre. A total mental capitulation over the past couple of weeks from the whole side.

Some big list decisions to make . The bulk of the team is relatively young but for me some questions over Birch and Pearce to start with . Libby looked unable to run with pace and was outbodied to easily . The centre ball ups seem to have gone past Pearces' inability to jump , and moving her forward didn't work because her shots on goal were awful . Harris was far too quiet , Bannon was missing for too much of the end of the season , Hore is a great player but her inability to make the distance from 30 m out is a worry . I also think dropping Campbell was a mistake , picking West wasn't . Can only hope we regroup and go again next season .
The Mackin sisters were very good this year , Goldy her usual maniac game , Gillard also had a good season . So plenty of positive to get out of the end of season mess .

Just out-hunted in both finals. Our players looked like they couldn't cover the ground and there were so many 1 armed tackles.

Often blitzed in the clinches which set panic into the team and resulted in us over committing numbers to the contest which allowed for easy transition and goals for North/Cats.

Goldy stood out so much with her intensity - which is an indictment on the rest of the group who looked lethargic.

Will have to look at the preparation/sports science as we really fizzled out this year.

Nothing going right so far. Overcommitting at the ball and running into each other.
We setup in this finals series, to be the hunted... instead of the hunters. From the Venue, to the inside contest work.

First in-under, and last with the clearances. The only clearances we came out with were thoroughly under the pump... which then transfers that pressure all the way down the line.

It almost assures we will turn the ball over under finals pressure, or a hack-kick to be picked off by the opposition defenders.
I've said it before and will again, sit on them, pushing them in under the footy.., and on their outriders__ At Least for the 1st Qtr, to build the perception of pressure on them, before we open up...

We are at our best on the rebound, with space... then we can choose which angle to kick inside F50.

And who's idea was it to play our games at bloody princess park.! They oughta be sacked this week.

Laurel and Hardy stuff.

Not sure on lethargy. We were running on air in that last quarter. Our stars just didn't stand up and the coach just let it happen. Midfield got murdered. Can't blame the defenders as the ball was coming in so easily. This group should have made the GF. Really disappointing that they played 1 decent quarter in 2 finals.

The girls had an eerily similar season this year, to the Demons Mens 2022 season.. both dominant in the front half of seasons, and come finals, capitulated in a very similar way on-field, and on scoreboard.

The 3 card trick.
Dominate the first half-season, and then the coaches get sold on the methods.. and come unstuck at the business end, as they have bought into the thinking, that we're better than we truly are...

Front runners, I believe that it's called.

Beat up on teams, when they are still developing they're styles, and methods. Fools gold.

Finals games is all about pressure... not about dancing away with the footy.

We didn't bring the pressure that we have built a reputation for... in the Mens teams, and also now, the Women's team.
We offered ourselves up, as the lambs to be slaughtered.

Instead of being the Sharks, we became the Seals. The hunted, and on the desperate run to save our skins. really pathetic from our footy department and coaches.

We just not skilled anywhere near enough to play this close-in game of win the first touch and handball off to a near teammate. Who in-turn sends the ball on again by hand.
We have to learn to receive/win contested ball on the move, and find space prior to releasing by hand to the next teammate in the chain.
Our handballs never really exit the contested area, and often under pressure, get hand-balled back into the middle of the contest; becoming a stoppage or a turnover.

So similar to our men's efforts.

And too often similar to Oli's, 'flippin the ball', style.
Going nowhere.

No surprise we went out in straight sets. Dumb, Dumb, Dumb.
