Okay so…. WFNL won the battle of who’s got the best B graders? Neither team fronted anywhere near their strongest, looks like most SFNL sides have players in that top 3 - 6 bracket representing them. Still looked to be a good day out and a bit of harmless fun. I can guarantee you that no one is losing sleep over the fact SFNL lost by 2 goals to Western. It’s good promotion for both leagues and gives players great exposure. I wasn’t at the game but looking at photos and videos the crowd looked light on compared to the RSEA interleague last year. Don’t think the baysiders like to travel 😅

Southern can either try entice the better players by offering $500ish cash for all players (sponsor?) or keep plugging away at it. Personally, I’d much prefer to have a player who is willing to play for passion than a bloke who couldn’t give a rats arse about it.

I’ve enjoyed the recent interleague encounters. Last 2 years were incredible matches…. Short term memory can be a funny thing. Hope it goes ahead next year with a new opponent. Can we get a Southern Interleague V VAFA prem B/C game? That would settle some raging debates in here!

No debate really unless all the best play

it's kind of like the state of Origin games, why would you risk the possibility of your better players for an exhibition match, yeah it would be great to see a decked-out squad from southern but why would a team look to risk their finals campaign for a friendly, only takes a wrong step a bit of a head on Collison you can lose blokes for months

Who is the SFNL stalwart being quoted without a name ? Is it coach Des Ryan ? Need names to quotes

Interleague should be an u25s concept for players who wish to play higher or even a chance of a sniff of catching the attention of recruiters. 30+ Y.Os have no interest from my intel and see it as an opportunity to get away for the weekend

It really is a kick and giggle game. There was a time where people were proud to play for the jumper, when it was an honour to be selected for Victoria or any representative team that supported a community but now it's just all about the money.

Might be time for some match payments for Coaches, Players, Support Staff, Trainers, etc etc. Would be interested to see if it made any difference ?
Players: 22 x $500 = $11,000
Coaches: $500 + $300 + $300 = $1,100
Trainers: 2 x $200 = 400
=$12,500

Then there's umpires, balls & rent for the venue

Yeah probably not.

Keep it as a damp squib and let the players on good coin take the week off and fly up to Queensland for some sun.

If upsets are being caused every week how long until we no longer call them upsets...

Down at Murrumbeena yesterday, saw a cracking game. The Lions played their ground incredibly well and knew how to score with the wind much better than Narre did. Atmosphere was top notch. Struggle to see M'beena winning away this year but their home wins throughout the season might be enough to keep them up. Huge test away at Dingley next week.

Are Bentleigh the real deal? Another massive upset in what looks to have been a star-studded East Brighton side. I am a big fan of teams that don't buy their way to the top so this result was one for the good guys. East Brighton were likely complacent, would not want to play them next week.

How many would have predicted Cranbourne and Port Colts to be battling it out to avoid the drop! Charlie Clarke played VFL yesterday so I wouldn't expect to see much of him anymore. Was too good to be playing SFNL for his age. Springvale defeated Cranbourne by about as much as every one would have thought. Cranbourne VS Port Melbourne next week shaping up to be a huge relegation 8 pointer...

St Pauls taken care of by Dingley. Some tougher fixtures coming up for the Doggies so we will see where they stand. Dingoes and then the length of the Flemington straight for me.

Bentleigh have set themselves up for 10 years with the best local talent coming through the under 19s in the area. And at a low cost. Genius moves.

St Pauls have no under 19s and haven't had for several years.

Bentleigh will monster St Pauls for the foreseeable future.

You must have a viable under 19s program or your goose is cooked.

How did Bentleigh look yesterday , too quick ?

What was the game plan for Bentleigh that worked yesterday
