Doveton a sinking fast lost arguably 4 of there top 5 players last year do you think they just let him walk away
Was speaking to Ricky Johnson cousin today he said he’s definitely gone to Springvale and said Doveton have lost about 15 players roughly Pearce who coached the 2 s took 5 of the better 2s players with him as well i think there big statement of being in Div 2 for only one year is not looking to good now

Yes, I have heard Doveton will be a shell of themselves. It really is a war and when people have their noses put out of joint, they can literally destroy clubs. It only takes on or two at the top and the trickledown effect can destroy a club.

Where did Pearce go?

Stated it months ago. If the rumours that have circled since their bleak exit in the finals series then they are a copy paste job of Keysborough. All talk and no walk when it comes to the crunch. They will do enough to stay in division 2 but boy once you have a few jump ship the head above water stuff to survive in the division can make the winters a real grind.

The most fascinating decision of all time was Stapleton as football manager to then sacking cardomone and then himself being instated as senior coach. You move on a coach you must recruit a new coach outside of the club who can recruit and retain and keep the list invested. Sounds like Stapleton doesn’t have the group. If they weren’t already a ‘watch this space’ they sure are now

I still believe Doveton will make the top 5. Maybe just, but they still have a few good players who will be enough to get them there. If Chapman leaves, then it's good night Doveton.

Yes agree i heard a couple of weeks ago Chapman is still not 💯 on playing not sure of the exact reason why but

I have watched Doveton over a number of years, and it seems to me they are on a downward spiral from their halcyon days.

Too much interal fragility and egos invovled at the club at the moment.

A footy club is a living, breathing entity and it can easily get sick if one or two people at the top use it for their own agendas.

Yeh but the issue is that Doveton have already lost 5 of there best 10 players and whilst the players who followed Pearce to Forest Hill may not be 1s players, it will certainly kill there depth and make it very hard for Doveton to cover the loss of players.

They did say they wouldn’t be in division two for long
Might be right, 2026 3rd division

Would be Ironic that the 2 clubs who came in beating the chests that division 2 was going to be a stepping stone to division 1 could be playing off for reverse end of the ladder premiership

Doveton just playing off abit quicker than they had anticipated

Keysborough v Doveton

Now that would be a sight to see

I never said they were quality i said they were some of there best 2s players and Pearce and Querim could play senior football regularly if they were more committed but losing 6 of your best 2s players hurts the club

Ye absolutely agree be interesting to see how dipper handles this with not having the cattle like he did at east Brighton

Yeh I can't imagine there 2s being all that strong this year.

It's crazy though because Doveton was such a powerhouse 15 years ago. And then even 5 years ago in Outereast they won the div 1 flag and were quite strong and had a good financial backing to recruit. They must have a terrible recruiting team and also have a few too many egos in there committee I reckon.

My updated predicted ladder for this year is this -

East Malvern
HP
Chelsea Heights
Doveton
Caulfield
Frankston
Mordialloc
Keysborough
Highett
Endeavour hills

If Chapman leaves Doveton, they drop a considerable amount. I believe Chelsea Heights whilst not recruiting much, have the divisions best player in Tapscott and he will dominate. Caulfield I have sneaking into the top 5 because I know they have a couple of recruits they haven't announced and one being a league best and fairests winner from wodonga. Frankston have recruited well and will hold there own quite comfortably. Mordi are a tough one, recruited a million players and some half decent but are coming from a long way back in the field and lost there best player in Grech. Keysy have bought a couple players back and will possibly cause an upset or 2. Highett and Endeavour I believe will struggle with loss of players and also depth.

Can't see many ahead of him. Morrisby possibly if he has another huge year. A lot of good recruits coming into div 2 this year, but no superstars like tapscott

They were always going to struggle after the 2s captain hung them up this year. If I was Overton looking at the blokes that left not committed the twins ran off too ashwood then came back when it got too hard and showed up whenever they wanted. Yes will be worse off but you don’t want guys like that in your club
