SFNL Div 3 2025

they agreed that they aren’t up to eastern standard and canned the application
Ashwood have probably been keeping an eye on Oakleigh Districts this season in EFNL Div 4 (yes let's call it what it is) & are weighing up whether travelling to the foot of the mountains every other week is really worth risking the future of their club.

FYI Oakleigh Districts are now looking for a new coach are they were beaten by last place last week. Quickly becoming an irrelevant club after leaving the SFNL. Would have been better to stay & maybe have success in SFNL Div 3

Both don’t have jnrs

Oakleigh has money and ashwood doesn’t

Not sure it’s the right comparison

Ashwood plain and simple dont have the infrastructure to be an efl club

But yes u are right. They’d be finished as a club by 2027 if they moved

Poor season for Sth Mornington after a GF last year
They will be ok. They have a good president, he just needs more help. Too many people in clubs happy to sit back and comment and not put their hand up for jobs. Gone are the days of having 15 general committee members who just talk footy. Need people who provide meaningful input

I'd imagine Div 4, they currently sit in the bottom rungs of VAFA Div 2.
Really struggling in the 5th division of the VAFA so D3 or D4 seems the logical starting point. Have had their struggles, some of which are self inflicted. Cost themselves a flag last year in D3 (6th grade of the VAFA) when a couple of their better players got themselves suspended in the 2nd semi (or prelim?) and they subsequently lost a tight GF. Happy to be corrected but think they might have gone into recess for a year and then came back initially as 3rds only club so good on them for looking at options to remain viable. Respite from travel and the opportunity to pay players might draw a few back but like most clubs in that part of the world they have suffered through an oversupply of clubs in an area with a vastly changing demographic. 3 clubs based in the small suburb of Doveton all doing it tough. Would a merge with Doveton Eagles work? From memory (and again happy to be corrected) they started as the same club way back and then split of in different directions.

PS - They might need a compass if they think Berwick is the 'epicentre' of the SFNL.

Yep Doveton area is struggling with lots of immigrants now like a lot of clubs out here i think they should merge with the eagles with Hallam doves eagles and e/hils all close together and most families that are from around there over the years that kept these clubs going have moved further out and no St. John’s and Doveton eagles were never the same club eagles started as St. John’s oc then Doveton amateurs and then became the eagles St John’s restarted later again and they actually played each other in the amateurs one of the biggest blues iv ever seen that day they actually hated each other and no one from either club had anything to do with the other club completely separate clubs

Anyone make it to the Ashwood v Black Rock game today? After a quick watch of the STC game v Lyndhurst - which was very close indeed, I headed down Essex Heights Reserve for an absolutely awesome last half.
Thought BR was clearly the better team but Jesus Ashwood gave them a serious scare.
After a few checks of the ladder and statistics - I'm pretty sympathetic towards Ashwood considering they are going down to DIV4 (the club I associate with was down there). I completely understand the rules of Relegation within the Southern but after rechecking the fixture, I find it pretty hysterical that the last-placed team has beaten the 2nd last team TWICE in the same year and still ends up going down. Super interesting stuff, what a great H&A season for DIV3!

Yep - the locals were up and about in Decco's last game - they were always going to be fired up. If they are able to keep this group together, they will not be in Div 4 for long.

BR scratchy at best - kept kicking it over Cloke's head. They would want to be much sharper next Sunday.
