What has gone wrong at City, list wasn’t that much different from h the team that played finals last year and now all the big names are jumping ship as it sinks.
I watched them with a StKC life member last year and told him I thought while great for their paying fans to watch, propping the side up with aging AFL stars would result in a crash on the horizon.
Admittedly I didn’t think it would be this soon though

Agree and probably the biggest loss for the club was losing the Hoy brothers

World of pain
Coach and at least 4 others walked out last night

Both Matty and Ryan hoy were big losses for the club . Maybe they had seen the writing on the wall . Or the club desperately needs them back to pull them back out of the shit like they did in 15,16,17

Been coming for years. Running like they are still in the 80s. Junior football split, womens football split and their netball club split. No leadership, poor culture and not wanting to move with the times.
Hoys contributed to culture issues bringing in players from way out.

Certainly. Have cancelled many club functions over the last couple years due to poor ticket sales. 19s got kicked out of the comp last year when the other teams refused to play them as well.
Does anyone see them winning another game this year? I'd say the Mordi, Chelsea and Bentleigh coaches have breathed a big sigh of relief over the last week. Maybe it would be best to go down to Divvy 2 for a few years and have a whole club reset.

Houston saying its time to reset the culture at SKC, he is the one who developed such a bad culture in the first place. Joker.

Can’t see them surviving . As everyone has said , the writing has been on the wall and it’s poor management that has caused this .

Wouldn’t happen at a stpauls or Bentleigh

What makes the culture so bad ?
No community, no junior system, too many guys who can‘t play putting their hands out, no respect for sponsors, where do you want to stop.

This club isn’t on its own but perhaps they’re the worst example of a football Ponzi scheme is so much as this model was always unsustainable. What is the point in an average comp of paying very ordinary players even down to the twos?. Surely local clubs are ideally connected to local people and local community’s, otherwise what purpose do they serve?. Talk about dunning kruger, these clubs who think it’s win at all cost are doomed to failure.

Now to the guys who jumped ship when the money became tight, well goodbye, good riddance, don’t come by in future you’re exposed as mercenary’s who couldn’t care less about the club. Nothing but shame on the club and the where’s my cash players who have left.

Now the good news is the club will see out the season, they may be easy beats and drop down but at least they may end up with a sustainable community club.

Any results from tonights meetings?

I saw that Vinnie Turncovich was made coach, wasn't the bloke that was kicked out from Braybrook?

Also that Chewy was Captain?

Good sign to see Chewy ride the season out as the new skipper. Legendary player. Who was the old captain?
Apparently at least a dozen have walked out.
Looking like some past players will help the club field 2 sides each week by dusting off the boots

Very good coach, has won multiple senior and junior premierships - ex VFLvia Willy & Werribee. He resigned from his role at Braybrook, it’s on their Facebook page.

Probably just what they need, an older head that doesn’t compromise on standards. A strong tactician.

Will definitely improve the place - likely results won’t be great this year given list exodus but the longer he’s there the more improvement the club will see.

Umm very strange appointment and obviously heading to div2 now. Rumours were he got moved on from Braybrook last season 3 weeks out from finals. That’s div3 WRFL which is very low standard. Not sure he has the pulling power to rebuild a club like STKC. Watch this space.

I tend to agree in part but the club offers these players the money so it’s not really the players fault. If you can’t uphold your part then players should get out before they get stuck after June 30.

Certainly fault in both camps. The club for offering the money and not being able to pay it. But the players too… some money from footy is nice and deserved but if you go to a club purely for the sake of the money, and walk out the door when it stops, then I wouldn’t think you’re there for the right reasons.
