Shane Crawford's baby surprise
20 January 2006 Herald Sun

AFL heart-throb Shane Crawford and his partner, Olivia Anderson, are expecting a baby.

Crawford, 31. and Anderson revealed their exciting news to friends and colleagues on Wednesday before leaving for a short holiday. The child, their first, is due in August.

"Shane Crawford and partner Olivia Anderson are going to be parents," a Hawthorn football club statement said.

"Crawf announced the news to the playing group yesterday and said both he and Olivia were ecstatic about the baby.

"Hawthorn will consider a push for an early signing under the father-son rule if the baby is a boy.

"Congratulations Crawf and Olivia on behalf of the coaches, players, staff, members and supporters at Hawthorn."

The couple have been together for more than a decade since meeting at a Flemington young members' day.

Although the Brownlow medallist admitted marriage was on the table in 2004, they have never tied the knot. Crawford said in an interview that he had been blown away with feelings for Anderson.

"She would be an amazing mother and is pretty keen to have kids, too," he said.

"What I have found more is the friendship has become stronger and stronger.

"She is a great girl, she just understands me so well and I appreciate that."

Crawford shocked Hawks fans later in 2004 with his tell-all television documentary, Shane Crawford Exposed.

Do you think he'll be a good dad, or will he and his girlfriend become the new lleyton and bec and sell their photo's and stories to womens magazines, increasing his love of himself.

Not unless its a girl, but then again, Crawf oftens plays like one, so...........hmmmmm:p

Even if it is a girl, would fit in perfectly well on the Hawk roster.

Unless she's an ugly one, in which case your club will eagerly take her off our hands (ala Nicholls and Graham). :D

I hope the statement that this journey is talking about isn't just the Glen Ferrie Goss that appears on the site.

I guess it means that he has had at least one more root than you. Dumb thread.
Its not a dumb thread, just a few dumb posters posting on it.

Congratulations to Crawford, I think he will make a sensational dad.

Yeah just like Damir Dokic :D

I love Damir:

"I have thought about dropping a nuclear bomb on Sydney since Jelena lost in the first round this week, for which Australia is to blame.

"I have even thought about killing an Australian in revenge, but I wouldn't gain anything from it."

and

"I'm not crazy when I say this, they are the crazy ones who give you hot sausages before the match when it's 40 degrees Celsius outside."

He has all the qualities to make a great father.
1. He's a leader and leads by example - big plus.
2. He is responsible, this statement may cause a stir, but there is not a player in the AFL who prepares any better and still has the forethought to think about his life after Footy.
3. He's still a big kid himself and coupled with attributes 1 & 2 is a huge bonus.

Go Crawf:thumbsu: Put a spout on it mate.

Congrats to Crawf n Olivia..i am very happy for them both :) and i think Crawf would make a great dad.

When Crawf got the the footy, one half of the crowd called him a girl and the other half yelled "Go Cindy!" But if he's going to be a dad that must mean he doen't have a vagina after all ? I'm totally confused.
