Like even if he's only 70%, should he play in what is likely going to be his final game? Or if he's not 100% fit should he just make the Richmond game the last?
I'm only going to go this week if he plays. I hope if he retires it's before the game so it can be official.

I reckon he should play no matter what. Nothing on the line, kick Carlisle out as he's leaving us anyway.

Of bloody course not.

What kind of respect is it to a veteran to say "I don't care if your leg's stuffed, get out there"? This idea we should make him trot around with a stuffed groin, probably cause him pain and push back his recovery period, so we can get some sense of closure is ludicrous.

Fletch wouldn't want that either. It's a team game. He wouldn't want to be that selfish to the 21 other guys. And perhaps he's pretty content with his last moments on an AFL field being chaired off at the MCG in his 400th game through a guard of honour. As opposed to hobbling around in pain in a dead rubber that means nothing to nobody.

If he wants to play, sure. But I just don't see him wanting to if he's not right.

If he's not right I'd be inclined to ask him if he'd like to wear the vest and send him out for a kick with 10 minutes to go, even if just to be out on the MCG. It's the least the club could do for Fletch and the fans... and they should pass it off to him from just inside the square :)

Last game spent sitting in the vest for 70 minutes? That's probably even more disrespectful than not playing him if he's fit in the first place.

Does he want to play?

If yes then he does. But he would have to be a huge sub risk and hes also not going to be playing for anything other than a "token" game. He might not want that.

Also might prefer to remember his last game under his great mate Hird. Not a dead rubber with a caretaker coach.

Also has the goalkeeping against island to prepare for so wouldnt want yo put that at risk.

you make him the sub and put him in the forward pocket for the last 10 minutes. rapturous applause. the game is irrelevant.
Do you really think that's how he'd want to spend his last game?

This season was more about getting Fletcher to 400games than playing a most of the season.

Hell be disappointed he can't say goodbye to the fans in a game, but he won't be disappointed with what he got out of his body, amazing achievement to play until 40.

the game is a dead rubber! let fletcher play even if a sub as need be. in his final of 400 odd games the bloke at least deserves one final send of

He will be playing :)

if hes 90% right then why not play him from the opening bounce until he reckons he has had enough then sub him out of the game. If fletch aint right then he wont play but coz thats the champion he is and has always been for our club

Club says he is 50/50
Ch7 says he is 100% out
