Nothing to be gained by a mid-year sacking.

From here things either turn around which would would be fantastic. Or they continue to go badly, several of the oldies retire midway through the year and we see what Neil's like marshalling the new kids.

That way we can see whether he is the one to take us forward beyond 2010. He would be on trial in the latter part of the year much like he was in 2004.

You don't sack someone who took a team into a whisker of a Prelim final, playing some of the best footy ever played by the AFC, simply because of 4 consecutive losses.

It would be even more ridiculous considering the Crows have used the most players this year out of any AFL team, playing 5 debutants in 5 weeks, with only 10 players that would have played in all 5 matches after tomorrow.

They have things that need addressing, however sacking is not the solution at this stage.

Hahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha

Have you only been following the Crows since midway through 2004??

noticed the blokes who said yes arent so vocal...

There is no way he should be sacked, you have to allow for the injuires for our predicament.

However if we get more Walker like decisions, persisting with the old blokes once the season is gone, flooding our defence and not leaving one player up forward, poor match ups such as Young on McGlyn and no improvement in our performance then the ground swell of disenchantment will be too strong and I reckon he will walk.

Whilst I'm not a great fan of NC's coaching [match day] to even suggest sacking him at this early stage of the season is ridiculous, for starters I wouldn't have any confidence in any of our assistant coaches filling the breach as a "stand in" until the end of the season.....IMO the fact that NC has surrounded himself with ex Crows players and mates is part of our problem, with perhaps Viney being the exception, no fresh ideas or strategies likely to come out of "yes" men. I'll probably get howled down for suggesting this but I think Wayne Carey would be an ideal addition to our coaching staff, anyone that has heard him speak about the game would realise he has the footy smarts and he's certainly no shrinking violet, he'd say it like it is for sure. All reports suggest he is dealing successfully with his "personal" issues and NC did seem to get on well with him while he was at the Crows.

we finished with the 5th % a long way behind the top 4.

lets not make it out to be something it wasn't. hell I bet you've forgotten that Essendon were shown statistically to be the worst team to make the finals in the last decade.

we got on a nice streak at the end, any suggestion this was some sort of total football is your memory playing tricks on you.

We were playing attacking footy and at the same time choking the opposition.

We are trying to do that now, but the problem is the execution has been extremely poor. The goal kicking has been even worse.

We play our best footy when we have 18 accountable players on the field and all attacking, moving the ball quickly, executing skills perfectly and kicking straight.

Looks amazing when it's executed correctly, however it looks terrible when it's not. Then when it's not, confidence starts to dip and snowballs.

It was certainly some pretty good footy late in the year but vs some average sides. It sucked alot of people in thats for sure, media supporters- ours and opposition.

Agree with the last part, we did it for a bit in the semi, I remember looking forward to the day we could sustain it for longer and against top 4 sides. Seems so far off now.

No. The Geelong experience a few years ago should tell the voices of doom that things can turn around very quickly.

Certainly glad there is some common sense on here despite being the call by some every nearly every post.

Do you not agree that we were playing some of the best footy ever played by the AFC towards the end of 2009?

I didn't see the best but certainly up there close to it.

We have had some good purple patches throughout Neil Craig's tenure, but last year we pretty much were a flat track bullies so while we playing some good football against leser teams we were clearly was off the pace from the top four sides.

I would honestly say that we were playing better in 2006 than last year, in 2006 for a stetch we were almost unbeatable. Despite the wheels falling off at the end 2006 is still clearly Neil's best year. At the end of the day I am not really worried about purple patches here and there it's about performing in September ie winning finals and winning flags.

Can people stop citing Geelong's 2006 season as some sort of vilification for Craig.

Thompson had already cleaned that side out and had a good young developing squad that has been progressively improving since their breakout 2004 season. The 2006 drop off had to do with Bomber's marriage breakdown and prompted a full coaching panel review by the club. Our situation is entirely different from that, if we had already moved on our senior players and had some pain while we were transitioning our side after moving on some/all of those senior players then Craig would be under far less scrutiny.

I didn't realise that voicing one's private opinion was so upsetting to you.

I will still post those thoughts no matter what you and other knee jerk reactionists insist on.

It's my right to do so just as it is for you to reply to me.

I could have come on here and had a go at a some of your posts that I believe was not factual or completely immature but I didn't because you certainly wasn't not on your own in that respect IMO.

Now back on track, no matter what ever the reasons were, he still turned their season around not even you can deny that. Perhaps I should place a caveat the reasons why I post something so the know it alls can ease their heart rate down to a moderate measure.
