Should Neil Craig be sacked?

I can't deny that he's ****ed up to a certain extent this season and our injuries have only served to magnify the extent of his **** ups.

But having said that, I don't think it's time to sack him yet. All good (and bad) coaches go through a rough trot at some stage. Let's see what he's made of and whether he can get himself out of the mess that he finds himself in right now.

The longer answer is "it depends", based on:

- his player selections over the next 10 weeks (which veterans will be tapped on shoulder?)

- whether we persist with current zone gameplan, and Craig's willingness to show flexibility and listen to the players.

- our win / loss results. If we are 0-7, or 1-9, he is unlikely to see out the year, but I can't see Triggy holding a press conference announcing he is sacked. Craig will walk if there is no confidence in him continuing.

I didn't realise that voicing one's private opinion was so upsetting to you.

I will still post those thoughts no matter what you and other knee jerk reactionists insist on.

It's my right to do so just as it is for you to reply to me.

I could have come on here and had a go at a some of your posts that I believe was not factual or completely immature but I didn't because you certainly wasn't not on your own in that respect IMO.

Now back on track, no matter what ever the reasons were, he still turned their season around not even you can deny that. Perhaps I should place a caveat the reasons why I post something so the know it alls can ease their heart rate down to a moderate measure.

Trust me no one has been shot down about their opinions more than I have, I agree that everyone is entitled to their opinions, I personally don't see any corellation between Geelong in 06 and Adelaide in 10, but each to their own. No-one here posts anything factual it's all subjective tis the beauty of this forum.

As for being immature well maybe I have been, but it's hard not to when you are so passionate about something like we are about this club !!

You don't sack someone who took a team into a whisker of a Prelim final, playing some of the best footy ever played by the AFC, simply because of 4 consecutive losses.

It would be even more ridiculous considering the Crows have used the most players this year out of any AFL team, playing 5 debutants in 5 weeks, with only 10 players that would have played in all 5 matches after tomorrow.

They have things that need addressing, however sacking is not the solution at this stage.

Despite what other posters said, I agree. The stretch bookended by the Collingwood games was up there with some of the mid 2006 stuff. Which in my view was the best football we had played.

it's a shame that the poll results aren't public. would be interesting to see who the tossers on our board beleive that we are better off without craigy....

I agree too. Right up to quarter time of the semi-final. Looked awesome.

It would be very bad form to dump a coach who really has been very good for us, because we have lost a few games.
That said, if non performers, especially those over 30 years of age, are kept in the team at the expense of youngsters, then I think we would have the right to think that maybe Craig isn't acting in the long term good for us.
And being passionate followers of our team, if we are shit on by too many more sides, it's going to get mighty ugly on this board.

I can already answer that question

Toots Hibbert, Rory, D_One etc

Neil Craig would be on thin ice with many supporters, but he is not at the sacking stage yet.

At the moment it is 78.82% "NO" which also is a good indicator of the support Craigy has.

Each loss though and the numbers will certainly start turning the other way. Way too early for me to be baying for blood, but geez I hope we start showing some dramatic improvement.

I said yes. Not really meaning that I think he should be sacked immediately. But ultimately if this crap continues for the rest of the year, I see Craig and the AFC parting ways. Whether it be sacking, walking or jumping, the end of the year needs to bring a change.

We were awesome, right up until we had to play a top 4 side. Lets get things into perspective.

There *was* great football in the first quarter, against a top 4 side. Just like it had looked for the month or so before. Then it stopped.....

No. The Geelong experience a few years ago should tell the voices of doom that things can turn around very quickly.

actually, a couple of things on this:

1. Geelong were a lot closer in the 2004/05 finals series than we have been in the last couple of years.
2. maybe this has been the worse thing to ever happen. because one very talent outfit turned it around, after 1 bad season (which was never like this one) then its become possible for everyone. Lotto is possible too.

reminds me of a the gambling addict who says the one long shot that came in early, ruined it all for him.

why do we all hang on the 100-1 shot, when we have so much history to consider where it doesn't happen.

the bomber thompson corollary has some vague similarities, but only a couple.

Under-perfoming coaches will probably be saying a prayer to Geelong's turnaround for years to come.

* as an aside in Geelong's annus horribilus 2006, after round 4 (2-2 130%, 2nd best in league)

we are just too timid.

for years we've been timid when under pressure. all of the verve and conviction is drained from the players. i've been in craigy's camp for a long time, but i think it has become very clear that he can't get decent performances out of the players when they're under pressure.

on top of that, we have neglected drafting classy midfielders, indulged our old players, and under-exposed our young players to senior football. and we can't win finals.

sooner or later someone has to take responsibility for that. it's gotta be craigy.
