Should collingwood chase prismall this week? to be honest i havent seen him play a lot. But i have seen him have a couple of stella games but that could just be because hes playing with a stella midfield group? Looks silky like pendles but harder then him. I really rate him from what ive seen and seeing as though collignwood are after some hard nosed midfielders i think he would be a pretty good pick up at only 20 years of age. Downside being that hes getting a knee reco this year and could be out for a bit of next season and it would be a bit of a gamble but at the same time im sure it would make his value drop, even if its just a little.

Anyway if collingwood do decide to chase him what do you think would be a REALISTIC offer to make geelong?

I dont think it would even be worth wasting theyre time with the ben johnson and rhyce shaw thing... maybe a straight swap for a 2nd rounder? i wouldnt really wanna part with the likes of reid, wellingham or mcarthy for him... but i think that a straight swap for our 2nd round would satisy both parties...

regards

We should go for him. This board suddenly went quiet about Prismall after he got injured, but he might be back by round 1 with round 10 the worst case scenario. He is quality and will help our midfield. A 2nd rounder is fair in my view.

im a collingwood supporter, and I would support my club in getting brent prismall.

I think he shouldve stayed at the cats and signed on for one more year, let them handle all his rehab, then look somewhere the following year... some knee reco's go the way u dont want it to.. so stay another year brent while u get through ur rehab, then leave!

But he is now on the table, I think u take the risk, its the same injury that lockyer had, and he came back strong.. So I think go for it Pies... but dont give up the world for him, as he wont play for 12 months... definetly go for it though.

Now the question would be who would u give up for him.... Not a rhyce Shaw. Someone like a Sean Rusling (the injuries concern me, and Geelong need a quick key forward).. But i think mick is keen on keeping rusling..

What u guys think??

I agree. He's one player who's very overrated by non-Geelong supporters. Have a look around the Geelong boards and do a search for him on the main board to see why Cats fans don't rate him.

Read the Geelong responses in this thread http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=443289

Thread only showed 1 geelong fan that really didn't rate him and that was posted early in the season. Played some excellent footy in the 1s and despite having players coming back into the side and having by far the best midfield in the comp he still managed to hold his spot. He was getting more than 20 ps a game in the 1s, kiced a few goals and used the footy well. The only reason he was squeezed out of the side is they had so many of his type. When the opportunity came up through injury he grabbed it with both hands and more than held his own.

Id be happy to take a punt on him for a 3rd rounder.

I'd gamble on him (I posted this on another thread too). His disposal is very good and if you add Cousins to the midfield, with a healthy forward line ... FU<K

Cousins, Prismall, Pendles, Davis, Didak, Swan and Dick ;)

Despite his knee, Geelong wouldn't take our 3rd rounder though. We'd have to upgrade it a little.

should definatly chase him need another good young mid who could turn into an elite mid, he will recover and should be playing mid to later 09 anyway the way they do do reconstructions now has a much faster recovery time. if we took chris dawes with a torn ACL why wouldnt we take prismall.

As well as the fact he'd have no pre-season, so you'd be getting him for '10. 2nd rounder for that kind of wait, not so sure.

Hopefully we dont waste our 3rd rounder on him... ox said on sen hes going to miss a year of football. To much of a risk for a high price.
Ide rather see us trade for picks than pick up recycled players! Hopefully just get cousins for free!!

He is only in his early 20 years , so if he has to miss games as part of his recovery so be it. Recruiters don't have that now, now, now attitude of supporters, it won't matter if there's a wait , the chance of full recuperation would be the thing being assessed.
I personally wouldn't be looking at trading , I think he is over valued as a player.
I'm starting to warm to keeping all our picks , hopefully getting a mid to late pick for Shaw and taking Cousins in the PSD , as my preferred trade work activity.

Would trade our 2nd Rounder for Prismall

I would've traded a 2nd rounder before, easy. Now, I'm slightly unsure if that's still worthwhile. I'm on of those who rates Prismall, not as the best thing since sliced bread, but someone who'd be very desireable to Collingwood, and would personally prefer us to get him before Cousins if I had to choose just one.

Perhaps:
Prismall and 49 (3rd) for 29 (2nd)
or
Prismall, 33 (2nd) and 65 (4th) for 29 (2nd) and 45 (3rd)

Got no idea, but think he's worth pursuing, even if it is for 2010.

Yeah the injury is the big thing. If it never happened I would say go for it without hesitation. Hopefully we do the right thing if we're interested and really get a good medical report.

Last time we passed on a Geelong guy coz of a medical, well, yep, that went well.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but if Prismall is available at a price we deem appropriate, then we gotta go for it, despite his injury I think.

personally i think his injury has made him a lot cheaper. I think he is definitely worth the punt (i do think it is a fairly well calculated punt though). He would add nicely to our midfield and his best is still a long way off

We need to explore this, even if he misses the whole of next season.

Whilst sceptical, I agree with Didaka in that we should explore this- CAUTIOUSLY.

I wouldn't offer up anything more than a 3rd rounder.

People are delusional if they think he is worth a second round pick, particularly with the injury setback.

However, it would be great to add another pick by trading Rhyce or BJ and perhaps on-trading that for someone like Prismall.

As I said in the ROK thread, I don't know if Rhyce will be involved in a package deal or what have you but my source is pretty reliable and informed me in these exact words that Rhyce is just about a shoo-in to depart from the Lexus Centre this year and likely destination is the Harbour City.

Walshy and co. are just being tight-lipped on things and keeping their cards close to their chest.

We'll soon find out.
