Review Showdown 59

At least this team fights games out to the bitter end (apart from round 1 against North), unlike last year when we regularly fell behind and got smashed. Plus there's no laughing from the coach after a loss, which is refreshing, to say the least!!!!
It is one of our best features this year that Carr has put into the group.
Carr has gotten the boys to play the entire game.
As you've said, there were many times under Hinkley that they would capitulate before or after half time. And unfortunately, you could see it from the first bounce and sometimes even in the warmup.
Carr has been awesome so far but still with a lot to do.

Seeing you are clearly here for reasoned discussion and not just to be a dickhead, would you care to share your opinion on the lead up to Riley thilthorpe’s goal in the last quarter and wether or not it should have been a free kick to port Adelaide for a throw?
Let’s not get technical 😉

That clearly was a knock in my opinion not a scoop. thats my opinion. They game would not have gone to that climatic ending if the umpires were not a disgrace all night. We had two goals rubbed off, The Butters goal on half time should not have been and the Rankine running too far free was another momentum shifter. You and i both know the Crows continue to get the rough end of the stick when it comes to umpiring and Friday night was no different.
If Milera's goal was allowed there would be no Berry goal and ending like we had.

Have you seen our outs?
Have you seen our outs? Rozee/Dawson cancel each other out, Tex missing for 3 quarters, Butts goes off. No Fog, Ah Chee, Hinge, Keane...
you guys: Rozee, Ratugulea, SPP and Luko. rest i dont rate.

Ford, can you explain the pitiful remark.

I'm interested to see what you've seen.

At least here we have dissected the game and the failure to tag Libber from the outset was a terrible misjudgement. But my concerns mainly stem from talk that we had a soft preparation for the game and were relying on the Bulldogs being cooked from their tough build up.

I'll admit that's only been talk but from several sources and watching us play, it was fairly evident that we were not prepared for this game. The Sunday Footy Show did dissect our game and provided a raft of examples where players didn't commit the body, failed to execute under pressure and fell over at key moments.

It's not like they were a team of flakes, 2 weeks earlier they beat Geelong by 43 points in a tough, contested footy game.

The stats just don’t back up what you’re saying.
The Crows have been on a + side of frees for years especially at Adelaide oval.
Jack up the medication and jog on.

We are talking about outs - not things that make the side better

The Peatling double drop on the wing that resulted in a goal 30 secs later was my favourite.

All the coverage will be about how the Crows were savagely wronged, but they also got their fair share of crucial calls in the moment.

When the shoe’s been on the other foot, like the second Showdown of 2014 when Port was being umpired to a degree that suggested deliberate handicapping on the league’s part, I don’t remember a single external murmuring about how laughable that was — let alone another statewide campaign crying about how hard done by we always are.

The Crows are simultaneously the most courageous and invincible sporting team to ever grace a patch of manicured grass and the poor helpless victims of fraudulent umpires, Victorian hegemony, and big bad bully clubs who dare to touch their team of good boys.

While you could apply this thinking to a subset of most club's supporters, they are without a doubt, the only club with the above mindset embedded deep into their DNA.

"Claude, can you tell me what 'Right in front of me!' is in latin?"

The only decision against the crows I did a double-take at was the Rankine ran too far call. Maybe the umpire didn't see the bounce. Or maybe I'm a bad judge of distance.

The point over the top of the post was clear as day (or night with AO lighting), the Rachele push in the back was a push, not much of one, but they've been paying those this year.

The Rankine high call at the last bounce was very soft in the context of the game but gave them the theatre they wanted, the Peatling non-call has been mentioned. I thought Berry was taken high with the ball Wehr soccered into the post.

You can find decisions either way in a 1 point loss.

But crows media gonna sook one way, that's life in Adelaide.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the Showdown.

Plus that ARC review that overruled the umpire's decision when the ball was 5 metres above the goal post. There's no way in hell that Crows' goal should have ever been overruled. The crowd was right to be furious.

Two other options should have happened here

1. Call it a point - it sure looked like one watching the broadcast

2. Call it a soft call point and check

There's no way you can 100% call that a goal with no review

Cool. Good to know you are totally objective. Thanks for the chat.

You had one goal rubbed off because it missed. Unfortunately you didn't get away with getting 6 points for a behind again.

A second goal was rubbed off because one of your most self centred players decided to push his opponent in the back. He should try not doing that next time.

We all know that the Crows continue to have their balls tickled by the umpires. And they have a gigantic sook when they get one go against them. Case in point again would be the latest Showdown.

Why shouldn't Butters goal on half time been? Since when are you allowed to push an opponent in the back?

The fact that you guys actually think Keane being out is a negative shows just how good a run you get with the umpires. Fair umpiring would have him leading the league in frees against.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but apparently the crows had a couple calls go against them?

Farck me, they win by 1 point and it's still non stop complaining from them about the umpires robbing them and the media backing them up to the hilt. ....
It's a deliberate and successful strategy that they've been using for years. Why do you think they get favourable umpiring more often than not.

I don’t think there is any way that something as subjective as the camera angles on this should be overturned. If the umpire called for a review and it was given umpires call then fair enough. But the umpire was right there, looking at it from directly underneath. If this one had happened to port I would have been fuming. I think that the arc overturning this without being asked is overstepping the mark.

The crows have a legitimate case for complaining about that one. The rachele push, whatever. It gets let go a lot on the goal line but I don’t think it should.

The shove for butters goal is 100% there. Two hands in the middle of the back. The rachele “knock on” is clearly an open handed scoop and therefore a throw, but that resulted in a goal. Other than these there were a lot of 50/50 calls that went either way and could have gone the other way. The umpiring wasn’t a disaster for either team. But crows fans and media would have you believe that the umpires tied their players up and held them in a hostage situation for the majority of the game, only for them to heroically escape and win regardless.

It shows what entitlement you can develop from having everything handed to you like they always have.

So many poor decisions on the night.

I feel like we are a bit more talented but they have their game plan set and work really hard and have a bit more heart than us. I don't like typing that the Crows have more heart than us but they are so desperate and hard. We need to solidify our game plan, breed some footy IQ into the players and make them work a bit harder especially when it is needed.
Gotta play to the siren, never take the intensity and pressure off until the siren.

As if no decisions have ever gone against us.

Why are they so protected with that shit in the media but they literally never talk about the decisions that cost us.

Even in this game, yes we got some really questionable calls that helped us but i swear at least 4 or 5 of their goals came off the back of questionable calls too but the media has completely ignored them.

It's like they were the team that lost by a point.
Yeah i have noticed Chanel 9 are right the crows arses lately, i had to switch off.
