Review Showdown 59

Great that Whitlock got the rising star nod this week. Many players disposal efficiency was way down. Good experience for them as they need to feel finals like pressure and big crowds. Let's how it makes them grow. I look forward to playing top teams to see how they cope...

The Butters goal on half time should not have been

You’ve laughreacted at multiple Port fans who said the Rankine free in the centre was soft in the moment, and then you go and say something like that.

Soligo shoved him square in the back and over the boundary line ffs.

It was the most obvious free since the one where Ben Rutten was hanging off Jack Anthony, unless you’re one of those fans who believes their players never infringe ever and every single negative decision is a great injustice — which is possible, let’s face it.

That clearly was a knock in my opinion not a scoop. thats my opinion. They game would not have gone to that climatic ending if the umpires were not a disgrace all night. We had two goals rubbed off, The Butters goal on half time should not have been and the Rankine running too far free was another momentum shifter. You and i both know the Crows continue to get the rough end of the stick when it comes to umpiring and Friday night was no different.
If Milera's goal was allowed there would be no Berry goal and ending like we had.
Lol your entire club should not have been.

Probably not the appropriate place to chat about this try the main board thread

Does the AFL/umpires have something against the Adelaide Crows?

The Crows held Butters amd JHF all day and dropped the ball without being called HTB repeatedly.

The umpiring was terrible both ways and only the typical Crows fans sense of entitlement makes it seem otherwise.

I think the problem is that media have driven this crows are the most robbed team in history narrative. So even neutral fans think this without even watching the game in full. They are so incredibly protected. No one gives a shit if decisions go against us.

It's why I (and every other Crow hater) am so overjoyed when they crash like they did in last year's finals. Such humiliation is precisely what they deserve.

I love rivalries.

Clowns are always good at getting the ball out when there is a pack of players, then they are tackled and swung around 360 degrees and it's never holding the ball, they have been doing this forever and get away with it.

Umpires have been roughly consistent with this, to be fair.

Both dropping the ball to the ground and swinging around before disposing the ball have become legal actions.

That thread seems to be going very well for you… nuetrals arguing the arc call was right. Crows fan winning the argument by saying “no I think it was wrong and I am right”. Classic.

Seeing you are clearly here for reasoned discussion and not just to be a dickhead, would you care to share your opinion on the lead up to Riley thilthorpe’s goal in the last quarter and wether or not it should have been a free kick to port Adelaide for a throw?

They showed that again tonight in G Cornes's segment on 7 with him waxing on about what a great goal it was and after having complained about the goals the crows missed out on, couldn't even see it was a clear throw. Oh the irony.

It's like their supporters are completely blind to decisions that go their way. I guess when you're protected and entitled, that's the way you roll.

I really don’t see it how the ball has CLEARLY passed over the post. It may have been the case, but I personally cannot tell that FOR SURE with the images shown on TV.

When you victim playing skills are so elite you convince the AFL world that you are the victim in a 1 point victory that was decided in the dying seconds.
And in which you received a free kick at the centre bounce which directly led to that match deciding goal in the dying seconds.

I can’t either, and I really don’t like the call. I am all for letting the goal umpire who is standing directly below it make a decision on it. The way that the arc decides it though is that if it is above the post on the same frame from multiple angles then it must be over the post. I am sure that procedurally the arc operator did the right thing. However in my book it’s not a howler that we should be overturning without calling for the arc.

It's blatantly obvious that the ball would of either hit the post or crossed over the behind side. Not goal side. ARC was spot on.

It's easy as heck to see. These people in the ARC aren't just random people either.

Goal umpire got it wrong. Simple as that.

Soligo even knew and wasn't confident until the goal umpire signalled a goal.

Milera’s goal shouldn’t have been disallowed, I’d be ropable if that was paid against us.

The free to Rankine at the death was 50/50, but he shouldn’t have been penalised for running to far earlier in the quarter.

Although the umpiring has been diabolical all year, the best team won on the night & it’s up to us to get better.

Graham Cornes still has a segment on CH 7? o_O

It's like watching a corpse desiccate before your very eyes

*PS An insufferably smug corpse

FMD what a joke, talk about stuck in a time warp.
Im sure if Fatty Francis was still be getting a gig at the Arkaba.

I think I'd prefer a Seance Segment with Fatty than that glib dilettante Chompers Soderstrom

If only they had a laser pointing straight up then you'd be able to see the laser on the ball. Or some type of chip inside the ball, anything really.

For such a large league you'd think they would try innovate instead of just adding more umpires that interpret the rules differently from one another.

The best team won on the night? The crows won, yes, but to say the best team is absurd. They only came out hard in the 3rd and whilst that put a lot of pressure on to the team and backline, they only managed 5 goals from 20 inside 50s to ports 3 goals. Yeah, it put more pressure on them but port came back hard in the last quarter to win and only just fell by what I'd deem as rookie mistakes in that last minute. Port were leading majority of that game and controlling it no matter how you look at it.

That best team nonsense is no better than the entitlement of crows supporters and their entire team and coach thinking they deserve everything and apologies for every minor issue or mistake made. They weren't the best team. They just won.
