Terry also said last night that jay shulz will be our chb next year, he has thrown him the challenge already.

Mark chaffey will be our new number one tagger.

brown to be a forward 80% of the time

campbell to play forward

karakour to play forward

kellaway to play on weakest forward zoneing off to be the man in the hole

Terry also said that while he is coach we will never trade away a first round draft pick

i wouldnt be suprised if richmond finish in the top 4 again just because you have a new coach it doesnt mean it solves all the problems

huh?

mate if Richmond finish top four, I'll be getting the misses up the duff again LOL

and even if a miracle came and we finished top 4, the club would have learnt from 2001 and know that the hard work has only just started!

go Tiges!

I think he meant bottom 4, and I agree, we won't win that many games, especially given the delistings we have made meaning that more kids will be playing. The key thing is we will be a hell of a lot more competitive than last year, so even if we lose games, the signs of improvement will be clear.

As for Schulz, I don't want to see him there, but given our lack of options I can see the reasoning in doing it. Long term I see him as a FF/CHF.

After the Gieschen/spud eras of listening to incoherent babble without any direction and the only thing you would here out of them was "staying positive " etc. ....... How refreshing is it to hear a coach who is intelligent , insightful , knows where he is going , and what it`s going to take to get there .

I`m so happy that i could cry

I really think that the last 22 years are on the way to being behind us

I hope the missus gets some say in that PRR :D

Good to see AK given the zoning off role this is were he has played his best football in the past.
Will be interesting to see how Chaffey goes as a tagger. He probably needs a new role after playing BP/HB for so long now.

Can't see it kretchy. He suffers from OP, and watching him move around the field the past few years I can't see him running with an opposition player. He struggles enough just chasing for short bursts in the backline and is often noticeably hindered.
His best work has been as the spare man in defence. Hopefully his disposal will return to the excellent standard it was in 2003.

Fair points, Chaff does have that akward running style, I couldn't see him doing a job on any quick midfielders like Judd, Stevens or Burgoyne.
The change to a tagger though might be his last chance to try and extend his AFL career by an extra couple of years.

I once watched Chaffey play on Paul Kelly who was an extremely quick player. What surprised me was that although Chaffey looks awkward when running, he nonetheless has a lot of power and was able to keep up with Kelly, both across short bursts (matching acceleration) and long runs (matching top speed).

i dont like the idea of schulz playing chb i think he'd be more valuable at FF

yes

Good Key Forwards are more valuable and harder to find than Good Key Defenders so when you have a young key position player who has shown some genione promise as a forward he should be given every opputunity to develop there...

i agree however while Richo is roaming the fwd line we are wasting Shultz at CHF.
At the moment we are in need of a strong bodied backman more than a CHF and Shultz fits that bill.
what i hope is that Moore puts on some beef over the summer starts off as the 3rd defender then graduates to the FB position.
As far a CHF goes we have Archibald in the wings along with a Kpp from this years draft.

cheers!

From an outside point of view, this seems like quite a stupid idea. Joel Bowden did a great job at CHB at the end of the year. He was the only one consistently defeating his opponent. He was averaging like 30+ possessions wen he was moved to CHB and in my opinion he should be left there. He showed he can be tight and play with a CHF when he i believed did a good job on Barry Hall in round 22.

Its obvious Shulz is more of a full forward then he is a Centre Half Back and he proved that against Brisbane, If Richo moves up the ground and Shulz is the main focus in the forward 50 i believe he will blossom into a great forward player.

I think moving Nathan Brown to the forward line is a good move only if he plays a key role in the forward line and is regularly being passed the ball. If he is there to just crum the ball and snap goals then his talent is just being wasted.

I reckon Campbell would be much more useful in the back line replacing Chaffey then in the forward line. If i was a Richmond supporter id be very worried about your midfield and defence. To me it sounds like Wallace game plan is to throw all the talented players in the forward line and hope they can somehow kick goals. Im interested to see if Richmond choose to either draft Franklin or Roughead (you wud get one of them) cos from the sounds of things (moving shulz to defence) you wud say Franklin is as good as a tiger and will play CHF next year, leaving Richo in FF.
