didnt Piacione get 2 weeks for crudely elbowing a collingwood player to the jaw earlier this year. Lonie or clement I think it was. Given that I think Scwabs self righteous indignation is a bit much.

....two weeks earlier than it needed to.

And whose 2004 season will likely start 2-3 weeks later than it should.

I'm a big fan of Jess - what Docker fan can forget the (fair) bump he put on Worsfold as a skinny 19 year old?? - but it's about discipline when you play at the top level.

Frustrated or not - that was totally without discipline and should be punished accordingly.

Comparing him to Fleming is a joke.... Jess is a proven AFL performer who looked very upset with his efforts immediately after his undisciplined act.

Fleming is a first year gutless sniper who seems to go out each week to "hurt" guys.

Actually he had a history of it at Fremantle... several times he threw elbows at players... in the same way he did tonight..... in derbies especially.

how about how he put Woosha on his butt - that was beautiful to see!! WCE captain, hardman, thug dumped on his backside by a skinny long-haired kid from Freo. You loved that dinya Chris_Dudd ;) :D

Imperial Purple and do you remember Craig "Dirty Harry" Callaghan lifting woosha up over his head and droppin him like a sorry sack of sh*t.

Yes, although it is a massive stretch to say he elbowed him in the jaw.

It was clearly in the chest/throat area, hardly comparable to last night's incident.

Wipe ya chin fool. Have a look at his peers, Archer, King and Stevo. Next ya gonna tell me their persona's are what sweet Jess needed to make him a complete player. And Laidley should go in the room of mirrors and have a good f'n look at himself.

5 weeks.

Outrageous, disgusting and unacceptable.

Had he braced himself for the contact, tucked his elbow in and not leapt off the ground, it would have been fair enough and one of those things that happens in footy.

But he did none of those things and the fact that he's frustrated at the outcome of the game/season is irrelevant.

Don't like Sinclair - recall him doing some stupid things off-field at the Dockers and assaulting Ben Cousins during a derby (don't mind his sometimes strong, fair bumps at all - that's good footy).

Two weeks in a row I've seen an incident like this. Michael Swan of East Perth, you are a disgusting mongrel and how the WAFL tribunal can only give you 2 weeks for what you did to Jason Salecic last week, they only know.

Tuck your elbow in and stay on your feet. It's quite simple and should be instinctive.

He got 2 weeks for an elbow to the chest? I wouldnt think so.

My point is not to condone such incidents but simply to say that once you raise your elbow, its simply luck as to how much or little damage you do to your opponent. An inch here or there and Piaciane could have done the same damage to the collingwood guy that Sinclair did to him.

The issue isnt the damage but the raising of the elbow.

It was a vicious attack which is totally out of character for Jess Sinclair and not something he would be very proud of. I would expect him to get somewhere between 4-6 weeks.

From an article at the time:

"The 23-year-old midfielder said he had been trying to shepherd when Lonie had "opened himself up", causing Picioane to make contact with his chest. Lonie agreed he had been hit in the chest."

So why raise Picioane's suspension? He was reported for using a forearm, not an elbow. Therefore your argument is baseless.

"Picioane was found guilty of raising his left forearm."

For the record Tormented...

Can't stand Stevens - don't know why, but he's one of the players who I love to see dropped good and hard.. he'd pees me right off

King - ditto

Archer - he doesn't bother me as much, but ditto to a lesser degree

laidley - needs a personality implant cos right now he aint got one.

So rack off and sulk in the corner with the rest of the Tiger losers.

OK he copped 2 weeks for a forearm to the chest? Be a first.

Come on. I remember it, it was an elbow to the throat. Missed his chin by an inch. I raise it cos while the result to the receiver wasnt comparable the action and reckless nature was similar. In the contest of Schwabs comments he is being slightly prescious thats all.

Bit rich to slag the Dockers for off-field incidents - where did the Weagles skipper break his arm again...

Had you read my post instead of giving a typical knee-jerk, irrelevant anti-Eagles reaction, you would have noticed that I was slagging Jess Sinclair for off and onfield actions, while he was playing for the Dockers, not the club itself (at all). In fact, I think it would be fair to say that Freo got sick of Jess Sinclair's behaviour too.

Have you got anything useful to say about the Sinclair incident yesterday?

Bickley got six weeks last year on Wakelin, Sinclair should get no less than six weeks.

He did get six and Jess will prob cop the same.I didnt agree with the six weeker given to Bickley.I would of opted for 3-4 and i think Jess deserves about the same.I see 3-4 weeks as a huge chunk out of a season for some players and six weeks + is just too hefty a penalty.

Did look very bad though.

fair bump? He jumped off the ground... crapped his pants and lifted his elbow at Worsfold.... exactly like he did last night. Difference is Worsfold didn't move and Sinclair went down like a sack of crap. He has a history of being a gutless twerp.

Will get 4. Deserves 4.

Jess Sinclair is not is not a dirty footballer, nor is he soft. The incident was both unfortunately.

He got beaten by Lekkas, chased him with his eyes fixed, looked up, and in a split second raised his elbow and cracked it into Picione. A mistake, and a dirty one. No arguments. Hawk fans bleating about dirty acts continues to provide me with a laugh however.

You obviously don't remember it very well because as you said Picioane's was merely reckless and only connected a little high with Lonie's chest and neck. Sinclair's was clearly deliberate, head high, and his feet were well off the ground.

Missed his chin by an inch did it? How many inches is that from his cheekbone?

Comparable?

On Sinclair, dog act, but at least he's come out and apologised. That he's shown remorse deserves some credit - if not leniancy with the tribunal.

I don't think apoligising should get him any leniancy at the tribunal. He did it, nothing done afterwards should change their view on the incident.

But, the fact that the bloke needed councilling after the game tells me is he is not a dirty footballer, and it would be unfortunate if he was labelled one for the rest of his career. Hardly the reponse of a hard man, more of one who stuffed up and wishes he could rewind and not go near the contest.

Wakelin suffered for more than 6 weeks....Bickley easily got the better end of the stick....I think his 6 weeks were if anything too light.

how about zero? check it out in real motion not slow motion and you'll see it was not intentional but a rather unfortunate accident where sinclair was trying to protect himself. I for one will stand by sinclair, he is a ball player and would never intentionally go out and injure someone like all of you seem to think he did, fleming's was much worse!

Chest or neck? Which one, theyre not in the same anatomical location. If it was chest he would have got off. It was throat, inches from the jaw line. Piacione was lucky. So was Lonie.

Cheek bone and jaw who cares. Busted jaw is just as bad as a busted cheekbone. Both acts were reckless certainly, But neither can be deemed deliberate without being a mind reader which I presume you are not.

By the way there have been other off the ball hits by Hawthorn players since Swab has been coach which he did nothing about. His ranting is hypocritical to say the least.
