2/4 ain't bad with the other two off the board.

What chance of a late bid on Henry; 15+?

Is the point of bids to "Keep them honest" or to improve the draft position of the bidding team by taking other club's picks out of the draft equation?

I am assuming it would be rare/unlikely a bidding team actually gets the player. In Henry's case a club would need to bid in the top 5 to actually have a shot at him, which won't happen.

I think any side between Carlton and Port Adelaide (picks 9-12) will make that bid. Hawks and Power seem to be the best bet, but Blues were keen which is why the Dockers moved ahead of them. Henry will be a Fremantle player, got no doubt about that.

Pie 4 Life

Thoughts on Jye Clark?
Rookie chance. Heard he's had a bit of interest given how his brother has travelled and has been flying under the radar over there. Still not as readymade but he worked into it throughout the season and did enough to suggest he might be thrown a lifeline. If not, he's still light and might benefit from an extra year in the system.

For all you keen Pie 4 Life thread draft followers, he will be on tonights Draft Podcast which will be going live at 7:30pm!

Check out the below link for more info on how you can listen in live.

I'll put the Phantom Draft out tomorrow in the end, I'm fairly happy with it, but just double checking something with some movement at the top tonight, and going on the above means I'd rather take the extra day to be as accurate as possible - I'm doing three rounds so it will be longer than others out over the past couple of days.

Nice.

Going to guess you swapped Stephens and Flanders at the last minute (and forgot all the references in the descriptions). :p
Good spot haha. Thought I'd fixed it. Yeah Sydney remain hard to read with everything. As do a few clubs. See when you receive draft murmurs it's often unrelated chunks or might be "Club A interested in Player X with Pick 26 or something" and it's like that's great, but what happens if they get taken before then? Then it's trying to juggle what's genuine and what's smokescreens.

Great work Pie4Life, just wondering if you think Hawthorn will trade back into the early portion of the draft (rumours are they're keen on Elijah Taylor) or if not who you would have them taking at 63ish?
They are a bit handcuffed with their picks. They would need Maginness to really drift in order to do so, or wait until he has been matched to assess options. Don't reckon Taylor lasts long much past 30, there are a few clubs keen.

Sorry, it was more directed at the product you're producing.
I went to your website, could not find where and if you were doing something.
Yeah I posted the details here and via socials but here it is:

Would that apply to Fremantle as well? Phantoms have been a bit all over the place and I'm reading it as educated guesses rather than anything substantial.
From what I've heard, it seems Hayden Young is a lock. Then I get the feeling it's either Robertson or Stephens, lesser chance Serong. I'm hoping to find out more on the latter's front closer to the horses mouth so to say. But certainly I feel Young is the one you can with certainty say will end up there unless a club does a major backflip.

Hi Pie 4 Life , I see your coverage of the draft starts at 6.45pm and afl.com start theirs at 6.30pm (AEDT), do you or anyone in Big Footy land know what time they actually start calling out the names?

It is certainly interesting times for us, and especially since the trade up. Both Young and Serong have had periods during the year where the occupied the pick 3 position on draft boards, Robertson a home grown boy, and Stephens looks a terrific combination of needs and best available. My personal order of preference Stephens, Young, Robertson, Serong.

Hope you guys have a great day today. Have appreciated your thread and site, and look forward to your live coverage on fb.

Confident it will be Young and Serong now. Caleb himself believes he's heading to Fremantle (though he understands how things change).

I remember a few years back talking to Cedric Cox in his hometown of Camperdown a couple of days before the draft. He told me the Bulldogs and Essendon had both said they were going to pick him, but the Bulldogs opted out, and Ridley slid so the Bombers picked him up.

I'd asked about him moving interstate and he was that confident he was staying in Vic he said "Not an issue, but it won't happen." So when a player believes they are going somewhere it can't even be gospel.

But Young and Serong are good mates so Fremantle are keen to bundle them up.

What happens if one gets picked earlier by say, Sydney? Do they go neither and take Robertson and Stephens?

You missed my point. Wright set the precedent last year by lumping you with Mozzie. Doubt a club would try it on with Finn in the top 10 this year. They'll get the same treatment.

If a team picks Finn at 8, they'd wanna rate him at that pick. In fact, I've never seen a mock draft have him lower than 15. It'd be a huge reach.

You make it sound like AFL recruiters play childish games. Sure, AD has a history of doing so (Silvagni with Carlton F/S) but we are happy to take him. Harldy "lumping you with Mozzie".

Finn sounds more likely to have a bid on in the early 20's.

From the sounds of it, Sydney have settled on Flanders and Adelaide if not McAsey will take Stephens. So the scenario plays out the same way.

If in the odd chance one does get picked, I reckon it depends which one. Like if Serong got taken early then I'd expect one of Robertson/Stephens to go with Young. If Young got picked early, then they might even consider Flanders/Serong. There's a chance that Fremantle do opt for Robertson/Stephens, but they aren't picking Serong just because he's good mates with Young. I'm sure they are all able to get along having come through the AFL Academy.

I'm confident in the top four is done and dusted - Rowell, Anderson, Jackson, Ash. Flanders sounds 85% done to Swans. Crows then probably 60/40 McAsey/Stephens.

We can't pretend to know exactly what they might do because strange things happen, but all I know is speaking indirectly to Caleb is he's expecting to be heading to Fremantle.
