I'm even more certain now Smith rushed his kick. All the pro golfers driving, putting and tennis players serving
all stick to a pre shot routine which is critical for the best possible outcome and goal kickers too - think Lloyd
throwing grass with the roof on at etihad, he was ridiculed but was correctly sticking to his routine. I feel Smith
got away from his routine under severe pressure when you need it most. He still may have missed the goal by not rushing
but we'll never know.

Too many people making excuses for Smith.
We're not Footscray or St Kilda.
The guy simply missed.

Did he rush his kick - No doubt.

People are not making excuses Issac simply rushed his kick a tad and missed.

End of story.

What a load of crap. He missed, who's saying otherwise?

Plenty of other players "missed" opportunities that night- one thing we can certain of is Smithy gave 110% for us on Friday. And the poor bastard would be hurting still.

We're not Footscray or St Kilda, we're Hawthorn. And we get around each other, win or lose.

Fatalistic explanations will make us of their ilk - "just one of those kicks"
like how you're just one of those supporters?

Seriously he missed the kick but posters are saying season is over even though we are playing this week, even though last year we looked nowhere near it in the QF and won the whole show.

The loss isn't on Smith, it's on the whole team, his last kick was just one of many moments in the game that didn't go the way we needed to win, shouldn't be singled out

I for one will be very interested in how Isaac plays this Friday night. It can go either one of two ways. He lets that moment get to him and he switches off mentally, or he uses it as an incredible motivating factor and tears up the game, kicking 3 straight in the process.

I have faith that it will be the second of those scenarios

Andrew Russell has said that Smith is one of the mentally strongest blokes on the list, his ability to push through at training, to run the way he does in games is because he makes himself keep going, he'll be right

The bloke gut ran & burned off geelong players to get himself into a position to win the game for us... takes a fair bit of ticker.

I don't subscribe to that fact he was arrogant or rushed it... he took enough time, kicked it well but pulled it right

The dogs will get into his ear but I'm tipping he'll have the last laugh on Friday night.
