He is in a bunch that I just couldn’t find a home for, there were about 20 that could have pushed in and may, but for me almost none of them are worth a national draft pick and a 2 yr contract, but some of them will get picked I’m sure. For me, Cleaver is a rookie pick, along with guys like Williams, Dewar, Draper, Adams etc from WA.
Gilbey WA and Teal VIC (due to bad luck) those two may even miss rookie picks and be train on players. I could name many more but for me, to answer the question, Cleaver is a rookie pick IMO and maybe IMO only but on this page that’s all that matters. Of course for him, I hope I’m wrong, regardless, I think he is on a list next year.

Fair enough. A couple of WA based draft watchers think he's severely underrated.
IIRC Port like Teal, and he's a sneaky chance at the Bulldogs 3rd pick

Yeah he is, don’t get me wrong I like him, just positionally in terms of picking for needs late in the draft I couldn’t get him a home.
Teal could go anywhere from round 3 onwards, first I had him to wb funny enough, then to Freo, then rich, then Adel, but in the end I left him to a rookie spot.

(so we can laugh at this attempt )
Tbh I’ll be ropeable if Collingwood’s draft turns out this way. Ryan is not worth a first round selection, especially with the likes of Hewitt, Hayes and Weddle on the board still. Richards too. He’s someone we should be looking at with our 4th pick, not a top 30 selection.

Weddle was one that I racked my brain over with collingwoods first pick, along with possibly bidding for Michalanney, then going Weddle. With Richards I have heard a fair bit about two or three teams rating him well above other small fwds in this draft therefore he will go in that second round I have no doubt and with Collingwood liking Charlie Clarke but here in my mock they miss out on him so I had them grabbing Joe.
Not sure Collingwood need the likes of Hayes more than they need a bloke like Weddle and/or Jake Ryan. I think Jake plays the Pies game plan perfectly, so I had him fit in there.

Yeah, I’m with Apex.

Collingwood desperately need to develop some quality talls at both ends eventually. Maybe the need isn’t immediate, but it’s getting closer.

Personally based on your phantom and potential availability Hewett, Keeler would be the perfect to address our needs. Ideally another tall in Hayes, Weddle or Barnett would also be available.

If Richards isn’t there at a potential 4th pick so be it.
Earlier in the year I had Hayes to you then Keeler, later in the year it was Weddle. now none of them. Getting Hayes may help get a trade done for his brother next year for cheap enough covering two developing needs.
With Weddle and Ryan, Weddle is 2cm taller but Ryan takes more marks, gets more intercepts, rebounds and runs more, uses the ball better and tackles more, hence, I chose him over Weddle.
Both may grow some more who knows.

You’re not sure we need a quality KPD to develop? Outside of Moore we have a bloke at his 3rd club in Frampton who’s speculative, Kelly, who’s undersized and likely going to be delisted at the end of 2023, Dean, who’s a rookie, and Murphy, who does an excellent job, but once again is very undersized. Hayes would be ideal at our first pick, we get plenty of run and rebound from Quaynor, Maynard and Noble, as well as Daicos while he remains in defence. Overlooking a player who fills a dire need for a lesser player because he supposedly plays our game plan well is utterly bizarre.

I never said that.
I said Im not sure you need the like of Hayes more than a Weddle or Ryan. There are other kpd’s to get to develop or trade for one next year, but I also said if you read the other post I did have Hayes to you guys, then changed it to Keeler then Weddle but went for best available for your first pick. Either of the three would suit Collingwood as players you could develop but i believe Ryan is the best available of those. Therefore, chose him.
Positionally, if the pies want a KPD to develop with their first pick then best available for that position would be Hayes.

Ways to trigger a Collingwood supporter:

Tell them there’s always next year to get a decent KPP. We’ve been hearing that for nearly a ******* decade.

Love your work Smythe - love how you're prepared to rank down to 100.

Just a couple of things:
  • Josh Weddle missing from the mixed rankings. I assume just oversight.
  • D'Aloia gets a run twice - 37 and 45.

And that’s it IMO, a lot that are stiff to miss out but there will be plenty of rookie spots.
I really like Hayes for the Dogs, but bit of a reach at that pick, and id say we would take Oliver Hollands if that's the way it went but I'm hoping we take George like you indicated.

The biggest fall from grace ever - Harry Lemmey. WTF happened to him? From No.1 KPF to who knows what pick.
I'm pretty sure someone at RMC went big on Lemmey late last year and over rated him which created a follow on affect where others cautiously followed their example, but unfortunately he didn't come on as expected and people adjusted their ratings, it happens, ratings early are at times speculative.

There were a lot of things off-field that hampered his year and some personal issues. His development didn’t come on like it could have. He has the skill, that’s for sure.

Think he found it hard at league level , West's don't have a lot of forward entry's and when they do they seem to look for Josh Gore and Jono Beach , probably got a lot of attention from the senior defenders due to the potential number 1 tag, did ok in round 2 though

Considering how early you did this, back at the end of October, you actually did really well

cheers, should go with my gut more and not get carried away with here say. I had McKenzie going to hawks in an earlier one saying he is the typical mid Sam mitchell is looking for, but then changed it in my mock, in that one I also had ess taking Tsatas. I did have syd bidding for Rowston in my last one……but at pick 40 I think.:rolleyes: Damn you Kinnear.
