Last I looked Berwick was in the Eastern league. Odd statement from the club.

I would have thought that the league's epicentre (or median point) would be a bit more to the north-west of Berwick.

Looking at the Wikipedia map of the SFNL I was surprised how many clubs were clustered around Dandenong, so I had a crack at finding the 'epicentre' of the SFNL. You are right - it is nowhere near Berwick. It is actually in Braeside.

(For map nerds: Google Maps doesn't seem to have any function to find midpoints of multiple locations. I found an American site that does this but couldn't get it to work. The maths of doing it properly - using 'great circle' lines to allow for ground curvature - is way OTT, so I decided SFNL-land is flat, lifted the ground coordinates off PlayHQ and averaged them out. I left out Pearcedale and Edi-Asp: they have thirds sides in SFNL but their seniors are in MPFNL).

By my rough calculation the 'geographic centre' ('epicentre' sounds like an earthquake or a disease outbreak) of the SFNL is in the Southern Golf Course in Braeside, on the west side of Springvale Rd, just south of Lower Dandenong Rd (37.9927deg S, 145.143938deg E). It is very close to the ground of defunct VAFA side Old Mentonians. Nearest SFNL sides are Dingley (1.1km NW) and Keysborough (2.1km East). St John's is 7.3km away. (I haven't worked out the rest - I'd have to do them one by one on Google Maps or use something called the Haversine formula. I can't be bothered).

I also tried a 'weighted average' for how many footy sides each club fields (I forgot about netball). This moves the 'footy team centre' eastwards to the south-east corner of Cheltenham Rd and Lake View Boulevard, slightly closer to Keysborough ground. This is probably due to the heavy loading of an outlying side (Narre Warren, 6 sides).

It's interesting how far inland these centres are. A few posters seem to think of the SFNL as being a bayside league that has been deformed / distorted by south-eastern clubs. Now there are so many inland clubs that you have to ask which is the tail and which is the dog. Maybe they should go back to the name SESFL (South East Suburban FL).

Hallam over Dandy West
Hallam seem too strong and even though Dandy West are a decent side, I can't see tip that upset.

Clayton over Lyndale
Clayton should do it easy, the recent results at Lyndale seem they are cooked.

Just my opinion and tips from afar though.

Hallam Dandy west GF, seems strange by Lyndale but they did a lot of senior players only playing 9 up to qualify for both including the vice-captain

hallam to win gf this year no one will come near them.
watched them play other week they are quick fit and great skills.

the only possible upset this weekend and I highly doubt happens could be lyndale if they have a full side in but who knows what's going on down there.

I see no Sharlassian and neve on team sheet for Hallam last few weeks are they gettable without those 2. I still think Clayton are the only side that can go with them. Lyndale will get some players back and should be fairly strong. Hallam Clayton granny in both grades. Should be a great finals series

I agree with this. Only team I can see beating Hallam is Clayton, but they’ll need to be firing from the beginning to be a chance.

I think it would definitely be a lot closer. Haven’t really had many wet games this season so we don’t have much to go off in terms of how any of them go in the wet

Have a feeling the Hallam - Dandy West game will be a proper humdinger today.

Clayton should comfortably account for the Pumas (who have packed up shop & will stack their 2’s) tomorrow and take on the loser from today.

Hallam will play finals in div 3, move the footy and their structures way too superior for div 4 footy. Also HP’s ground is a hard ground to play but it suits their style of overlap running and pushing back in numbers which is what any good side does, will win GF 50-80 points.

No suprise with Hallam and they will likely play Dandy West in the GF. Lyndale with a massive unexpected win, good on them but it will be hard to bounce back in the PF.

Hallam far too good in both games. I just caught the second half but dandy definitely would’ve had a few sore boys, Lyndale a chance this week?

I went watched Saturday, the reserves game was pretty ordinary was literally a match up of big team vs small team and seemed clayton got a few injuries.
The senior game in my view dandy West actually could of been a few goals up at quarter time if they took there chances but in the end hallam just fitter and more polished took control.
