Would he address our needs for a quick small foward type? We already have a pretty decent one in Jaensch, who I rate highly, but it'd be nice to have a genuine crumber down there.

yeah he might not be what you are after. he is more a tall HF / midfield type. i wouldnt say he has exceptional pace (i dont think he ended up testing at DC) and is in fact a bit similar to Gerrick Weedon who went last year. if you are after a small fwd pocket type I would look at Milera from Port.

I think you will find ther are several clubs interested in him(hence his invite to state screening).

His testing results were super-2.92 20 metre sprint, 14.6 beep and 7.69 for the agility test. These are clearly AFL figures.

He actually broke Stpehen hills agility record until Dahalus then broke his record.

He will go in the main draft before 60-you can bet on it!

Wow......he will definitely go.

nah mate I couldnt comment on him.

agree with you re Banfield and if you wanted some smaller fwds look for;

Isiah Stevens - WA
Tim Milera - SA
Keifer Yu - WA
Kirk Ugle - WA
Luke Dahlaus - Geelong Falcons
Ben Reid - NSW
Hayden Yarran - WA
Rowan Gartlett - WA
Cameron Johnston - Geelong
Tim Northe - Gippy

would be the major ones on the radar.
thanks for the list

yu is 20 something i think? where as i think most of the others are typical rookie list small forward ie 160 odd cm's 60 odd kilo's

i would be pretty happy with 1 or 2 of those kind of small forwards but was hoping for say a 20 something middle weight range guy which is why im so keen duscher

thanks again for the list and really hope to see 1 or 2 at brisbane

Great mock, great read :thumbsu:

Just wanting to know the chances of getting picked up for David Mirra, Kyle Hartigan and Dan Noonan. Thanks

David Mirra - I actually had him going last year so have watched him closely this year. Had a good year but I dont think its as a ND selection. More rookie. But lovely mover, very smooth, skills good and just looks like he belongs to me.

Kyle Hartigan - I think he would be on the radar of a few clubs after last season. North and Carlton particularly and possibly even Richmond who could do with a big body defender as well.

Dan Noonan - Was down in Melbourne yesterday and spoke to some mates who use play for Uni. They are convinced Nicholson will go and dont think the bloke is far behind although they havent seen as much of him. I havent seen either of them.

Good work Snoop, good read. Interested to see what some of the other respected mock drafters come up with in terms of picks 4-6. At the moment it looks as though Gaff/Heppell/Polec are going to occupy those spots in most opinions. Personally I hope this is the case, all three look class whilst I think some people looking at Harper and Pitt at 6 are probably reaching a little.

Only 1 problem with your draft port need a ruckman scott lycett at 16 i would have thought but other then that it's a really good draft

yes I thought about him there but when asked a few Port fans they wanted in and out mids. Felt they have had a few progress rucks to work with and wasnt a major priority. personally would not be surprised if he landed there.

mate very sensitive....i meant he will def go with those scores they are exceptional when you compare them to all the ones from Nationals and State that I have seen.

Not really..it was a question not an accusation,

I was just curious why someone with those numbers, being talked about by recruiters couldn't even rate a mention in your analysis?

bc i hadnt seen the #'s as I mentioned until you told me and nor had I seen him play. When you told me the #'s and I spoke to some Old Uni mates have come to the conclusion he will most likely be drafted. Suspect Noonan wont be far behind.

Nice read mate. What do you think the chances of Hutchinson from Qld getting picked up are? Possibly in the draft or as a rookie?

Great read Snoop as usual.
Do you think at WC picks 26-28 they will be able to get a decent KPF?

very much so and I think you will have your chance at either Darling, Mitchell, Hamp, Menagola (who some over your way rate v highly) and Barden who I would doubt you would pick.

you're still number 1 snoop.

Love how you go with your opinions and not the general consensus. For me, the value in these is not the accuracy of where players land, but the information you provide.

thanks pal - yeah very hard to get the order right. its still fun though trying to think through where they go.

Do you know I actually was going to have him in there at one stage but got talked out of it. Absolutely a chance and will just depend on club needs I suspect late in the National or in the rookie. you could bracket a whole bunch of those key defenders I took after say pick 40 and not much splits them.

He certainly sounded more like the player we need, hopefully falls to our pick then.

Peter Rohde is on record somewhere (don't ask me to quote) saying that they didn't go after Jacobs during draft week because they favoured their own current ruck stocks. I can't see them picking Lycett at 16, and we definetley won't at 14, as Rendell has already stated.

Tbh I'm not majorly fussed who we pick up at pick 6, as long as it's:

- Not Gorringe (we need to play Graham and Vickery, and we can get assistants later)
- Someone good.

If it's Heppell, it's Heppell. If it's Gaff, or Atley or any players worthy of pick six, it's them. The pies proved that depth is key and if we pick up another Cotchin type, I'm not complaining. BA should be the strategy for the tigs.

Selection # 10 (GOLD COAST SUNS)
Tom Lynch – Dandenong Stingrays / 196cm / 86kg

Profile : Tall forward prospect who doesn’t get here on results but rather on potential. Didn’t play with the Stingrays last year and was coaxed down to play by Hallahan earlier this year. Played 3 games pre Champs and was selected for the Country Side. It was the first time I had seen him play and I was really taken in with how he moves and the potential he offers. Terrificly athletic (albeit some of his test results were mixed) and comes from a basketball background. The upside in the kid is enormous because he shows that he can do most of the things you would want in a tall fwd given the way the game is played today. He moves very well for a kid his size allowing him to play a few different roles and hence will be hard to match up, he will chase and tackle and seemingly has a terrific motor - his beep was almost midfield like. Skills are good and has a capacity to rack up a number of touches (i think Hyde said he could play in the middle if they needed him to). Had a terrific game against QLD in the champs where he took some really strong marks and kicked a few goals in the second half. Notwithstanding people might say it was just QLD, from memory he kicked them on Crawford which was no mean feat as he had a really good champs and took a few very good scalps. Has come back from champs and been pretty consistent albeit yet to really dominate a game although reportedly had a terrific game in Wk 1 finals vs Oakleigh on Gordon and Otten. Notwithstanding, there is a bit of x factor in this kid and he is well worth a first rounder.
Why Gold Coast: Suns will take best available but he also suits as a potetial KPF
Similar to: Jarrad Waite / Scott Lucas
Draft Range: 7 - 15

Selection # 12 (MELBOURNE)
Jack Darling – West Perth /190cm / 86kg

Profile : Kid is an exceptional talent and has dominated junior footy ranks for a long time...but he has some issues and it will come down to a club believing they can manage him. Many will remember he was a dominant bottom age player at last year’s champs where he was named AA and even then was regarded as a top 5 pick this year. Big question is whether a KPF or not. For me probably more in the Aaron Hamill mould as he isn’t quite tall enough to play key position (did grown last year though so may still finish at a 193cm tall in the Chris Dawes mould. Either way he is going to cause some serious headaches for the. Great contested mark who is very agile (spent time in midfield at champs), nice skills, gives you 2nd and 3rd efforts, skills are good and leads by example on the field......in short the kid is a super talent but I suspect his interviews will be fairly critical to where he lands as he has had some issues. I will bet he will become very John Brown like as the years go on.
Why Melbourne: Probably the hardest pick so far because I really rate Scott Lycett and Dees could use him. They missed on Nat but this guy (in my view only)is probably better. However, I just think Melbourne needs a strong and physically imposing presence in that fwd line to work with Watts (and hopefully Fitzpatrick) in years to come. Cook, Mitchell and Barden were also considerations and they would probably be there at the next selection if Melbourne wanted to go Lycett now, tall fwd at next pick and then get some mids – probably a very sensible approach as they have some good mids in Tapscott, Gysberts, Strauss and Blease to come into that side.
Similar to: Aaron Hamill / John Brown/ Chris Dawes
Draft Range: 4-15.
Roughie: Geez I wanted to pick Scott Lycett here.

Snoop, Great draft. Love the effort you've gone too!

Question re: the next best KPF after Day. I like others have been captivated by Lynch's performances since the champs, however is he really a genuine top 10 or is it more BF hype?

Objectively looking at it. He wasn't in the AA team and really only had a couple of games where he kicked bags. Over lay his performances of those of Cook and even Mitchell and there is nothing in it. Lynch may have more upside, but it isn't as if he's just picked up a footy, he just didn't play at the elite junior level. His testing was ok, but the most remarkable part was the fact he's now 199cm not that he's particularly quick or can jump.

Then there is someone like Darling, who is considered short and didn't meet expectations this year but for mine just looks like he could be a superstar (or equally a poormans Aaron Hamill).
