Well done Snoop enjoyed reading that especially the late WA picks.

A lot of quality wa boys this year will last to the rookie, WCE are very keen on Menagola and Kirk Ugle have spoken to both recently.

On Collingwood would be surprised if you didn't pick up nathan phillips I know you have been keen for a while.

Wow top effort mate :thumbsu:

Love how youve even nailed the rookie upgrades.

Gets really interesting at Melbournes pick I reckon - I think it'll basically all comes down to how we rate Darling. If we go for one of the utilities like Harper or Smedts I think we'll score Cook or Mitchell at 32, which could easily end up a better combo than Darling and a lesser mid at 32.

I don't like bagging players but my love affair with tas mids is waning......I usually have them 20 spots to high........but Green is different........just ask TFLUA Tiger...;)

He better be different because there is a bloke at pick 32 in your draft that suits our needs big time. Mind you if you get 3/4 in a draft you are happy.

Snoop, I see you obviously rate Lycett quite highly - does his kicking not worry you?
I think it is ordinary at best, from the limited viewing I've had of him.

I think the Dees will want to take Darling, but will err on the side of caution due to his troublesome nature. We've had a recent history of taking young blokes with the highest character. Pretty sure the club has a strong "no d&@kheads" policy in place.

Re: thoughts on Darcy Barden in this thread...

From watching him, I can't help but think Brad Miller Mk II.

Pitt would fit that. Prestia another who might be considered a shock there. Would Caddy be a shock?
Well done Snoop Dog.Once again another great effort:thumbsu:
On our pick 6 "shock.".If Heppell isn,t there at pick 6 i have a gut feeling we will take Harper.
To me a Morton/Harper tag team from the HFF to the Mid fits our needs.

How's Nathan's knee?

Ta .... Wouldn't put a heap of stock in my thoughts and haven't seen anyone always get it right.

Yeah you guys didn't like Johnson much but Carlton saw enough in him to draft and play him. Was worth the punt even though hasn't worked. Saw he spat the dummy though.....

Chris Johnson was having a coffee with Ross Lyon in a Richmond cafe this morning.

What, a 133 game player? The average draftee from pick 17-60 plays 50 games, and half of them play under 25 games for their whole career. You'd take Barden every day of the week if he was guaranteed that sort of career.

you're obviously not a tortured Melbourne supporter.
All bar a few of those games were spent wishing Miller would realize his perceived potential. An honest trier, but just wasn't able to produce.

It's not a coincident that he played the majority of those games during years where we finished in the bottom 4.

Barden looks like him in a lot of ways.
Ordinary kick, leads hard, covers a lot of ground, works hard for his possessions, not particularly good overhead, not overly agile, average below the knees.
I won't be thrilled if Melb end up taking him.

Just wondering, what are your thoughts on Peter Bormolini from East Perth? Was in the U16's in 2008 but it seems his slipped of the radar a bit. Do you reckon he'll get picked up as rookie?

You're kinda missing the point. Remember every supporter expects that each draft his club will have drafted 5 200 game players, at two sooperstars and the others of minimum "gun" status. Anything less is a failure...

Sorry liz, my mistake ;)

People usually forget this point when trading for players as well. The arguments that Tambling "wasn't worth it" are ridiculous - he is at bare minimum a serviceable AFL player who has played over 100 games, and is a pretty good chance to play 100 more. If he steps up another level in his performance like at the end of 2009 then fantastic, but there's no guarantees. The 2 draft picks he was traded for will be hitting above their weight if they play 100 games between them, going on percentages.

Maybe you're both missing the fact that I only said he reminded me of Brad Miller..?

I didn't necessarily say it was a bad thing, or that it was a failure to turn out like that.
Read into it what you will.

I like that comparison, I think the Brad Miller reference is great for potentially comparing a hard trying forward, that is serviceable in a bad team, but a liability in a team looking to make the finals.

Brad Miller had a good long career, but was just missing that strong marking ability, defensive pressure and speed to make it as a good AFL player.

He was a honest hard working player that just never reached the hopes of many AFL watchers and many many Melbourne supporters.

Wouldn't mind Caddy either, just like Pitt more.

Yeah, also missed out the upgrade of Ricky Henderson.

Our rookie situation is:

Upgrades: Henderson, Jaensch and L. Thompson
Retained Rookies: Schmidt, Wright and Riley(NSW Scholarship)
NSW Upgrade: Sam Martyn
Delist: Brian Donnelly(Irish recruit)
Was just about to point that out. Have just read all of it, and can't see many errors with the selections, nice work. Do you know much more on Ahmat-Watkins Snoopy?

Yeah as you know from earlier in year v keen on him. I just thought he might be more rookie.

Interested in your thoughts on a few other WA players;

Derrickx - seems like could be a rookie given lack of depth for his position
Ninnyette - half way thru year had him as high as #39 to the Swans
Butcher - showed plenty at u18 level but is he AFL worthy
Jones - I like him but doesn't rate a mention
Richardson - any chance
Sweet - had a good year but like Richardson always overlooked
Brabazon - test results awesome
Odriscoll - I really like the kid but appear on my own

Great detailed draft Snoop :) What are your thoughts on Ahmed Saad of Northern Bullants. Any chance of getting picked up in the ND or Rookied? From what I've seen of him he's got great pace, jumping abilities and that xfactor that can turn a match.

i think that is very true. Who Melbourne take at that selection will define a lot of picks after that. maybe they will surprise as they did last year and not take a key fwd or a ruck. Personally I dont think Cook will be available, Mitchell possibly. If you got Smedts or Harper or Caddy even Rd 1 and then one of those two talls at the next pick you would be thrilled.

yeah Guthrie is someone I know a certain Mock Draft whose I rate as one of the benchmarks will have him in the 10-15 range. I saw a number of his games but I just didnt see what others did so have him definitely going but not quite as high.
