Jeff Farmer, Fremantle, has been charged with a Level Two striking offence against Mark Nicoski, West Coast, during the third quarter of the Round 18 match between Fremantle and West Coast, played at Subiaco on Sunday August 3, 2008.
In summary, his previous poor record means that his one-game sanction cannot be reduced, even with an early plea.
The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing bad record of eight matches suspended within the last three years, increasing the penalty by 50 per cent to 187.50 points and a one-match sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 140.63 points and a one-match sanction.

Mooney on Palmer, 0 weeks.

Probably lucky to only get one week given his record. I don't really think he'll be much of a loss anyway. He seems to have lost his magic. :(

If Hayden is fit I wouldn't mind seeing him spend a bit of time up forward in the Wiz's role.

I think Jeff has contributed up the ground in the last two weeks as much as a player in his role could be expected to. He is getting the ball and using it well, (besides his 2nd kick yesterday)

Means he will finish the year on 249 games (if he comes back in the week after and plays all games till Rd 22).

He'd better hope they think he's worthy of going around for one more year. :o

what a fecking joke! I hope we contest it and keep contesting it till the cows come home! But we won't, we'll bend over and lube up as usual

You would think that given the Coach's statements in the past, re certain players being slow learners, that this could be curtains for Wiz. Sad but not a surprising way to end a brilliant career.

Well I hope that would be subjective. Meaning, I hope we make the decisions on our players on how we view the incidents leading up to it, not how the AFL or greater audience views them.

Farmer comes under greater scrutiny than any other player in the AFL (Josh would be the only one that goes close with Crowley and Solly not too far behind) He knows this and yet he still does stupid things all the time. As yakomoto said, the club has taken a stand on the slow learners and Jeffery is probably the worst of the lot. I'd much prefer Mark Johnson to get another year than Farmer. His defensive pressure in the forward 50 is just as good and his goal kicking is better.

To be honest, i think Mooney should of got a week. So i'd be a hypocrite to think Farmer should of got off.

Though it does highlight the inconsistency.

I watched the game on TV and I saw nothing untoward. Maybe I'm wrong but could someone describe in detail what happened because I don't trust the MRP

I just saw the incident in a video on Dockerland. No ****ing way. What a load of shit and seriously that's done it for me. **** the MRP off and I hope Freo contest on principle.

It's unfortunate because being at the game I thought it was played in good spirit by all. The better team on the day won and both teams stayed on the ground for McManus. Sad that there had to be one to do something stupid! No sympathy for Farmer I'm afraid! Where does this leave him with his future at the club as he hasn't been that great this season?

This thread is about the inconsistency of the MRP, not about Farmers actions, most agree he deserved what he got, but why Cameron Mooney didn't is the question.

I don't agree. I think it's a dead set joke. That sort of incident occurs during a match on numerous occasions and they never go up.

Anyone want to offer me some odds on Wallsy saying "This Fremantle side are the most reported side in the competition" tonight?

No argument from me about the 1 week, but how about some consistency. When will the AFL allow precedent to be used? Surely it's now only a matter of time before this diabolical system is taken to court.

Cameron Mooney wasn't cited at all was he?

The only difference between the two IMO was the footage of Farmer was clearer in that you could see his forearm stop for a split second, tighten and then whack Nico on the head.

Mooney's you knew what happened, but didn'y really see the point of contact.

They got Farmer's right, and Mooney's wrong. Doesn't help you guys though.

It was a pretty stupid thing for Farmer to do and it will be interesting to see of you guys persevere with him next year.
