It has to be Hale , I say that with a hint of resentment....I was ready to stone him half way through the year....the added responsibility of taking first ruck has been a breath of fresh air......he has been nothing short of very good the past 6 weeks.
Bedsides the point, Bailey has typical ruck brain fart syndrome.....he did a hospital pass to Birchall that could have put him out for the year...back to the reserves son.

Past convention always dictated two rucks where required to win a flag. I think the modern game has changed this thought.
Although it looks increasingly unlikely we will play the Eagles in Sept action I have no doubt Clarko will want to prepare for all eventualities and test every line-up variation.
Therefore we need to ensure we can play with two rucks so I think we will test this theory in rounds 20 and or 21 when we have the suns and port.

This makes sense :thumbsu:

Full credit to Hale that he is considered better than Bails. I dont buy this Hale is a better forward option. Rucks do best when they drift forward and kick a goal. As permanent forwards ruckmen have always failed, cant see this changing in the near future.

I believe Bails is the better pure tap ruck but on form Hale s number 1.

It will be good to see how Hale and Bailey compare to each other against the cats this week :thumbsu:

Swans also have Mummie and the Canadian bloke, Mike Pike.
We might need reinforcements verses the Swans. I do not want their middfield having the benifit of a ruck advantage.

We need Bailey and Hale to be ready when we need them and we might need them against the Swans and Eagles.

Four games on the trott are enough to see how Max will go before we have to face the two teams with better rucks than Hale and Rough.

Its obvious that Hale is our number 1 ruck at the moment in Clarko's eyes as he should be, Clarko is just getting games under Bailey's belt so when finals come around we have 2 legitimate ruck options in case of injuries. Hale's form would need to drop off significantly for him not to be in our starting 22!

And two games in a row for Bailey. Plus he's got the option to give Roughy a whole game up forward. And try Max out there too. He has a number of options and rotations that he'd want to try out.

Paul Salmon would like a word with you.

I reckon Hale has ticked enough boxes with his ruckwork this year that he's earned the spot. I do think Bailey has more potential upside but he's running out of time to show what he can do for us this year.

Good point, and we're lucky in that we'll get a chance against both teams before the finals start. If both players are fit I reckon Clarkson may play both against Swans & Eagles just to see how each of them performs against their opponents.

It seems everyone wants Hale. Im going to be the ugly duckling and say I prefer Bailey to ruck.

As good as Hale has been this year, and he has been good, I feel a lot more confident with Bailey doing the bulk of the rucking and actually winning those tapouts.
