I honestly can't even remember seeing O'rielly. Are we confusing him for Batchelor? I went to the games and was thinking why O'rielly isn't playing. When i got home i watched the games on foxtel and don't remember seeing O'rielly once

Batchelor was very good! nice size, good kick and reads the ball well!
Will definatly release Lids back to the middle this year! Lids's SC & DT value just went through the roof with Batchelor coming into the side!

I think Lids can move back into the midfield and up forward for sensible reasons.

1.Batchelor is a good kicker and it would good for him to develop there.

2.Oreilly has come along in leaps and bounds and given he has come from so far back his further upside is high. Have to play the guy like some others even if it may cost a few games.

3. Webberly appears to have lost some of his dourness so he also needs to be included somewhere for further development, given his superior decision making.

4. Rance also has drastically improved his poise. Must be played in the backline for the whole year and given every chance.

Given some of these need to be in the backline and stable backline is important , with Newie , Moore and Astbury we are starting to have something to work with. All are reasonable kicks so they need to play together and develop their understanding and improve the teams opportunities up the ground through their good use of the ball. Oreilly can also play up the ground. Lids can easily be played on a wing.

I think it should be a mixture but I would happilly see Batchelor, Newman, Connors, Orielly control the small back spots. THink lids should go there when we are battling to get run out of the back. Thats one thing these guys all need to work on....RUNNING it out!

Deledio going into the middle could be an absolute weapon. he has never had the support of Cotchin, Martin, Foley, Morton, Grigg, Houli, Edwards type midfield.

Not saying Deledio is anywhere near this level- but I would like to see him play a James Hird type role- half forward flank when he needs to be, drifting through the midfield and also going down back when it gets tough. I think he has a similar skill set and is a similar size to Hird anyway (although obviously not at Hird's level)

Im with you, i would love to see Lids forward of the center line. I still see him as a waste in the back half.

I think he is still great in the back half, but think he is better up forward with his pace and fantastic kicking. Having said that we can't go back to the FF experiment (and never would with Jack up there)

I do feel that he needs that license to roam back when he needs to and also has the pace to rotate through the midfield, hence the Hird comparison

Last night showed how much we need his drive from the HBL with Alphie. We have recruited others for the midfield, leave him in the Goddard role. White should never, ever, ever kick out from a behind score ever, ever again. With rolling zones, we need line breakers. Lids isn't a natural on baller, he is a natural utility type player. His best football has shown this to be the case.

Actually this could be an very important year for the Tigers backline.

For mine I would have Rance, Newie and Batchelor their all the time. Then Astbury would be next contender for a more permanent position along with Connors. Leaves Grimes, Gourdis and MacGuane to fight out the other bigman spot with Astbury going up the ground at times and maybe Oreilly and perhaps Edwards going back to help out and occasionally Lids and the midfielders.

With Newie their as the Rock, it is critical Rance and Batchelor get maximum time/games for development for mine

I think Edwards needs to know when to hold them and know when to fold them like some others. The thing is Edwards has more ability and scope than White or Nahas so is worth persisting with in terms of experience so his future upside can be reached.

A lot of our players don't have the football nuos causing turnovers. They seem to be perhaps following a coaches rhetoric but can't seem to judge the limits of a situation and their opposition at the moment. Nahas is be prime culprit of overestimating a situation.

I think our big problem is the link players like Lids etc.. providing leading options from the wings etc... further up the ground. Positioning, backing up fitness could be reasons

The out of bounds rule clearly affected the kids decision making ability as well. How many times would we have gone down the line for metres, only to be forced to go inside, turn it over and see an opposition score as a result?

I don't take any notice of the scores.

Take out a few stupid turnovers and it was a lot closer, even with the pies

Not so much the Pies game (that really was boys against men), but i agree with that against Carlton. Five turnovers, five goals, game over.

O'rielly and Grimes were the same person very hard to split last night. Have to say Batchlor out played both. Keep lids down back until we are in control of games then pop him in the guts or down forward.
