There are a couple of common lyrics that slightly give it away a bit.

"Cause I'm never going to see or hear from you again".

I'm not sure how the Angels thought they could get away with it. It's virtually a direct copy, just sped up, and with different lyrics.

I've always thought the Foo Fighters' 'Long Road to Ruin' resembled Deep Purple's 'Highway Star' a lot but that might be entirely in my head

Can't hear the similarities.

I'd also like to add the opening guitar riff reminds me of another song.

One that was released early '90's.
