Oliver deal progressing more

Ah Chee basically done deal

-- If Merrett goes to Hawthorn , we will go hard to get pick 4 or 5 at a chance to draft Sharp--

eg. 14 , 2026 1st, player for pick 5

We surely wont get a top 5 pick with our current draft picks. Can the club honestly sell our 1st next year as a good deal to a club selling a certain top 5 next year?

Im not against Oliver, he was averaging high 20 disposals a game. Could be a nice pick up for us for 100 games. Adds some excellent depth to our midfield.

It’s to do with marketability. No shit there’s TikTok in Adelaide.

But I don’t think Petracca gets millions of views because his cooking is so amazing. It’s because it brand Petracca. You can think what you want, but his marketability goes down in Melbourne if he comes to Adelaide. Will the Melbourne TikTokers still give a shit if he moves? If I was his manager I would say it’s not a sure thing.

For players that want this type of career post footy (including commentators, media panelists, etc) the best bet is to stay in Melbourne.

He can TikTok anywhere. It depends on whether he is using specific localised influencer type content i.e. stuff related to Melbourne and Victoria. If he is just at home doing funny shit like Crisp was doing for awhile I dont think anyone people will stop watching just because he changed clubs. If anything, he will add to his audience.

This is why we pay our list management team
They need to get creative make some deals with other clubs, call in some favors and owe some favors.

If we can manage to get pick 6 off GC then it would be a negotiation to slide up with some back door handshakes for something in the future im sure.

14 , future 1st ( remember next year no NGA or FS can be matched in first round) + player

eg.

14, 2026 1st , Nankervis for pick 5 * Nank is hypothetical *

We will ask the question but we won't move up the order to get Sharp unless he drops further than that. We won't part with a player to get us that high and the draft capital to move wouldn't be worth it.

I rate him highly but there are good players every year.

Sam Cumming is the alternative

Who likely is availiable at our current pick

Could just go

14 - Sam Cumming
41 - Cody Curtin

I wonder if Essendon would be keen to hand over pick 5 for Jordan Butts and pick 14?

I know nothing about these kids, but even if Dylan Sharp is gone. It would be great to grab Mitchell Marsh or Aidan Schubert as key forwards/rucks

I don't think it'll be Adelaide not offering Tex a contract... it'll be him saying he wants to retire. I just don't think they've got it in them to do that.

The club know what Taylor Walker means to the fans. If the club was seriously thinking about not offering Tex a contract, they would have made it known to him and suggested he retire on his own.

I think both Tex and the club will agree to a one year extension.

The last few years his manager has leaked stuff to put pressure on the club via supporters. That hasn't happened which means maybe he isn't sure.

Last summer there was some increased standards the club expected of him before they all agreed to go again. No more nursing him to the extent they were and he had to be around the club in line with other player commitments.

That seemed to pay off with his fitness and form. It's just if he can commit to all that again another 12 months on.

Im not so sure but I will admit its probably more likely than not. At some stage the club needs to deal with the reality of moving forward without him though. We have a gaping midfield hole needing to be filled and im not sure playing another year achieves anything for him or us as the reality is we didnt just miss a premiership, we were several rungs below where we need to be for a premiership.

Been in the pipeline for months, we have become much better at holding cards close to our chest
So there’s a push to try and trade in Oliver AND still try and trade up to get potentially a Sharp/Cumming player as well??

Would absolutely love it if we could manoeuvre our way through that.

Oliver for the now while still adding another potential blue chip rookie.

Nothing stopping us fixing that midfield hole regardless of whether Tex goes or not.
