Also I don’t buy Cate Blanchett slapping around a homeless guy. I don’t think it is a believable of having a female in that role. Pretty sure any down in his luck male wouldn’t hesitate to shoot or rob her. Especially LA lowlifes.

Thought I'd post this here, as I can't be the only one already having my Squid Game withdrawals...

What would happen if you threw 456 AFL/AFLW players into Squid Game?

Well, we didn't have the budget for that, so we challenged 57 of them to a round of Calamari Ring instead! Including iconic players, both past and present, who can make it through a series of our favourite Aussie games to claim the 5-million-dollar prize?

Ever wondered which AFL/AFLW player (current or former) would survive a Squid Game-style elimination show? Wonder no more, as in the Unmatched Committee special, Adam and Jordan put an AFL spin on the infamous television series in 'Calamari Ring'. Featuring original music pieces, a $5m (hypothetical) prize for the winner and plenty of twists and turns along the way, Calamari Ring is an absolute treat for all listeners.

Is this how a mid-season breakaway competition should look? You tell us.

Couple of thoughts:

  • Generally enjoyed the “3rd season”
  • Hated the VIPs. Why were they so over acted and stupid?
  • Was watching with my wife and she had the blanket up over her face anytime the baby was involved. Was so predictable that the baby wouldn’t be harmed. I would have respected the show so much more if someone snatched it and punted it off the towers Anchorman/Baxter style. Would have been so shocking and unexpected.
  • I really hope that last scene isn’t a handing of the reigns over to the Americans to make 13 shitty seasons of Squid Game.

What was the point of Hwang Jun-ho? Seriously. For two seasons they had this side story of Detective Hwang sailing around to find this secret damn island. After all that searching and the death of a dozen soldiers, he FINALLY finds it, notifies the coast guard who does absolutely nothing, gets inside, yells out “wwwwwwwwwhy” and then heads home? What the actual?

Spot on.

That made no sense at all.

Everybody’s thoughts on hide and seek?

I loved that game.
I was mixed about it. The first season it felt like it was always the contestants against "the game", apart from the final game. Which made the stakes seem higher.
This season I felt it leant too heavily against player vs player, and this game was part of that, but I did enjoy the various situations it threw up.

Halfway through the last season, that Hide and Seek ep was awesome. As good (if not better) than anything in the first series.
Best game of the series.

Sadly this is where the season peaks and finishes poorly.

I still enjoyed it though.

Finished it off last night.

Definitely finished poorly and shoehorning the spin off concept at the end was disappointing.

Can't imagine I'd watch the spin off unless it reviews exceptionally well.

The absolute lowlight was the acting/dialogue of the VIP's. Absolutely terrible.

Just finished this. Was a second or third series necessary: of course not. But it largely remained entertaining. I thought the third season was much better than the second, the games more impactful, some of the twists and deaths more shocking. It certainly kept me watching the next episode more quickly than season two.

I too question whether it really knew what it wanted to say and do in the end. Hwang's story now seems like a pointless side quest, number 11's story was ambiguous, not sure much was achieved overall, but it has stayed with me for a day or so. Having read some comments after, maybe the small change to the Front Man while acknowledging that humans can still be trash is a nuanced end.

Anyone been watching this seasons, game show version on Netflix? I'm about halfway through and seems to be OK. There is an upcoming episode that features Snakes and Ladders which will be interesting and fun.

The Slides and Ladders was good but thats where the show ended for me. The rest of it just turned to sh1t after that.
