Since 1966, only three times has the Coleman Medal been won by a player kicking fewer than 68 goals. One of them was Leigh Matthews, who kicked 67 goals in 1975. The other two times were both Jack Riewoldt, who kicked 65 goals (2012, 2018).

Since 1993, there have been five Grand Finals played between teams who also played each other earlier in the same final series. On each occasion, the team who won the earlier meeting went on to lose the Grand Final.

Can West Coast buck the trend on Saturday, or will Collingwood increase the streak to six premiers winning a Grand Final against a team they previously lost to in the same final series?

Just browsing old brownlow counts and in 1995 despite finishing with a dominant minor premiership Carlton couldn't even get one player into the top 10. The highest vote getter was Kouta who tied for 16th with 12 votes.

How many other instances are there of the minor premier not having a single player in the top 10 of the Brownlow? Carlton of 1995 must surely be the most dominant of those?

Mitchell finished equal 13th with 16 votes in 2013. Hawks finished on top with a 19-3 win/loss record.

I've only looked from 1970 onwards, but there's also 1972 Carlton (eq. 11th), 1976 Carlton (eq. 13th), 1996 Sydney (eq. 15th) and 2013 Hawthorn.

West Coast are looking to join Hawthorn (1976, 1991) as the only premiers to have defeated the same team in week 1 of the finals and again in the grand final.

Average loss = 63.4 points. Just once since 1964 have they finished top 3 (3rd/8, 14-8, 2000) or won 15 games (4th/5, 16-6, 1990).

Melbourne need to do better if they ever expect to win a flag. They need to be finishing higher and avoid always being the underdog.

The coincidental results between the 1910s and 2010s continues today (to my great anguish).

In 1918 Collingwood lost the Grand Final to their avian cousins the South Melbourne Swans by 5 points and in 2018 they have lost to another bird team the West Coast Eagles in 5 points.
