118 Anthony Daniher
109 Michael Symons

103 Greg Anderson
85 Che Cockatoo-Collins
81 Michael Prior
79 Peter Cransberg
77 Derek Kickett
76 Ben Doolan
76 Barry Young

which grand final teams, have had the most previous grand final experience? for instance if geelong win this weekend and run out with the same team that beat port adelaide, they would boast about 55 games grand final experience.

i would imagine hawthorn 89 or 91, and the melbourne teams towards the end of their 7 in a row in the 50's would be the highest.

likewise which finals teams, have had the most previous finals experience?

once again haws late 80's and early 90's would be high, and i would imagine eagles 99 after 10 in a row would have been fairly up there though we were bundled out in straight sets (or even just lost our first elimination final) a few times in a row from memory.

i'm thinking the current swans team would have to be quite high as they have played a lot of finals recently, including a few guys who would have all played 7 between 05 and 06... would be reduced by the amount of injuries they are currently experiencing.

It's incredible to think that if Geelong make the GF, Joel Selwood will be playing in his 20th final already.

Only 38 players have ever played 20 finals.

Of course, there's more games per year nowadays.

I'd be interested to see percentage distributions of crowds each year, grouped into 10k chunks. I imagine that recently both high and low crowds have occurred more frequently, with mid-range ones lessened.

What is the GF W/L record for PF* winners that won their PF* by less than 10 points. Please list year, 1 or 2 PFs, PF winner, PF margin, and GF result.

* If not too difficult, please include matches from the penultimate finals week, even if it wasn't called a PF. eg. Melbourne defeated Essendon by 2 points in the 'preliminary' game to the 1900 grand final (where they defeated the minor premiers Fitzroy).

1900 | 1 PF | Melbourne | 2 points | won GF
\ 1901 | 2 PFs | Essendon | 1 point | won GF
\ 1903 | 2 PFs | Collingwood | 4 points | won GF
\ ...
\ 2012 | 2 PFs | Hawthorn | 5 points | lost GF
\ 2013 | 2 PFs | Hawthorn | 5 points | ???

By my calculations, Geelong won 139 games over the last 7 seasons, not 149.

EDIT: Hawthorn won 135.5 games during the years 1983-1989.

Roughead and Franklin are the latest pair of Coleman Medallists to play on the same team at the same time. Trying to think of others:

Fevola and Brown
Matthews and Dunstall
Matthews and Hudson
Matthews and Ablett
Gehrig and Cummings
Taylor and Roach
Blight and Wade

But more than a few of those were teammates before both had won their Coleman Medals.

So - are Franklin/Roughy and Fevola/Brown the only two pairs of teammates to each have won a Coleman Medal and play in the same side at the same time?

where does Steve Johnson's 1.5625 votes per game sit in the highest per game for a single season? Maybe with a cut off of 10 games? You could probably even do it with no cut off, as it's pretty unusual for guys who only played a few games to poll at a vote a game or higher...

Someone PM'd me with this question a little while ago. Technically the two pairs you've named is the correct answer, since the Coleman wasn't instituted until 1981 and was later made retrospective to 1955.
