Interesting in that 1996 with Adelaide being schizophrenic - Hawthorn scraped into the finals with a 98.5% but there were 3 teams outside the top 8 with a % above 100, including Richmond who could only go 11-11 despite racking up a percentage of 117!

I noticed this.

Adelaide 1996
Melbourne 2011
W.C 2000
Sydney 1987

All had a relatively even record, but such contrasting score lines. I think Melbourne losing by 180 odd points in one game had something to do with it.

This week we will see the 6-0 Demons play the 0-6 Kangaroos.

I have found some 5-0 v 0-5 match ups in previous years, but nothing with 6 games or more.

Will this be a record?

Here's one that might test you, Ron :)

Who, after switching teams, played the most matches for his new team without ever playing against his old one? (Assume the old team still exists today: the Fitzroy/Brisbane merger and University disbanding don't count)

Last Sunday, Adelaide kicked a very accurate 16.3-99 against Hawthorn, but just 6 days later kicked an atrocious 4.15-39 in losing to GWS.

What are some other examples of teams being very accurate one week and very inaccurate the next, or vice versa?

Ron The Bear Not sure if you can do this one but

What is the record for most consecutive single goals from different players in a game before a player gets two.
What is the record for say one player to kick two goals, followed by another to kick two goals, followed by another to kick three goals. How many of them is the record before two players kick single goals.

I believe it is correct to state this will be/is now a record.

The only instance I could find which comes close to challenging it is from round 8, 1935 when undefeated Collingwood played winless North Melbourne, the only issue being that Collingwood's undefeated record at that point consisted of 6 wins and a draw.

I don't have that data in my DB, and it only exists for a limited period (about 20 years) at afltables.com. Not sure if *Paul* is set up to answer this and/or has time to check.

Little bit curly. Microsoft Access certainly didn't like it. Had to resort to proper SQL.

Ignoring the 12 former Fitzroy players at the top of the list:

Kurt Tippet played 40 games for Sydney before he played against Adelaide for the first time.

Hmm, interesting. Five of those guys (Butcher, Toyne, Grant, Gniel, and White) were Geelong players who crossed to other clubs for 1942-43 when the Cats temporarily dropped out during WWII, and went back to Geelong in 1944, so no wonder they didn't ever play against the Cats.

Maybe one for the history board - but does anyone know when it was decided that 19th/20th men that didn't enter the field (1930-1977), would be credited with a game? Looking back at news reports of the time, it seems it wasn't initially the intention.

But at some point it became the norm.

Back in the 30s and 40s, players named as 19th man who actually WERE subbed on, weren't even considered as having played. If not selected the following week, they were not listed as Outs. If selected in the 18, they were announced as Ins, even though they took the field the week before.

At some point this changed, does anyone know when?

As an aside to this, I found this bizarre instance of round 14 1942 - Wally Bristowe is credited with his 11th and final game for Hawthorn. However he wasn't even at the venue! Originally named as an emergency, a couple of late withdrawals meant Bristowe was required as 19th man. However his army posting on the day meant he couldn’t get leave to attend. Luckily the Hawks didn’t need an injury replacement that day. But the records now show him as having played the game.

Hawthorn - GWS ... am I not understanding the query - wouldn't that include Scully, Patton, Gilham, O'Rourke?

Freo to Hawthorn - Trent Croad?

Yeah I got this wrong. Looked at transfers from first club only.

Who was the last Adelaide player traded to Collingwood?

Brenton Sanderson is the only one.
Also, how many current 3 club players, James Frawley aside and a technicality, have never played with Gold Coast and/or GWS?

10 of 24 - Aish, Brown, Henderson, Higgins, Hill, Martin, McKernan, Polec, Ryder, Walker
