If you dont want to support the club when the going gets tough as it is now and may be for a few years yet, then i urge you to go to some other club as we dont need you now or in the future.Complaining and whinging about every game or player or everything the club does will only destroy us and we will end up like Richmond and self destruct.DONT listen or Read all the crap thats around especially by the Advertisers bias reporter.
It is going to take a few years with new recruits and turnover of older players for us to be a very competitve team we just have to admit our current list and ability is not at this stage up to the leading teams.I dont care if we had the best coach in the world because as i said we lack the talent at this stage of our redevelopement. Most of the top teams have only risen to the top because of early draft picks over a number of ordiniary years.
Thats my opinion of were we are at now so you Crows supporters keep the faith we will have our day.
Cheers

Agreed.

No matter the results we must stick with them through the rough times of rebuilding. Its an exciting process, and while it has little short terms effects, the long term rewards will be worth it.

With potential guns like Hentschel, Reilly and Johncock, as well as the future prospect of marking ruckman such as Meesen and Maric, as well as a future midfield containing Thompson, Knights and Van Berlo its more exciting than one would think. :)

Great post. We the supporters must stick by the club through thick and thin.

Having said that, the Crows must face facts, and what the Advertiser is reporting is the truth, and as they say, the club (and some of the supporters) can't handle the truth.

I am here my brothers.

and sisters. ;)

But we as the supporters (and season ticket holders) must make sure that the people in charge are held accountable for what happens to the AFC on field and off.

We must stand up and be counted.

Agreed,
But I think this discussion board might get a tad boring if we stoped analysing the games and team.
I doubt you will find many real AFC supporters here bagging the club, once it’s done we are onside. It’s the bit before it's done that we generally get into (politically that is).
Tactics are always up for analysis.

Agree but there have already been a couple of posters calling for Craig's head

Yeah I saw them
As I said last year we should measure the first half of the season on the successful individual plays within individual quarters, and the second half of the season measured in quarters.
Next year we measure in games again.
2005 forget about ladder positions simply accentuate the positives.
Leave the mediocrity behind us ALL.

Agreed,

But it's important we take an objective view of the Crows through this period and do not get confused with blind love!

Agreed. Blind 'devotion' is probably a better way to describe it. ;)

IMO the astute footy-fanatic wouldn't make ANY assessment of the Club until after Round 11.

But I am 'observing' with great interest ATM!

Good posts fellas

It is hard to swallow every defeat especially when the unfold in the manner of Sundays game. I am always dissapointed though to hear public outcry's by so called supporters for the coaches head after every loss. I am getting really sick of it. We have to face reality as I already have and understand where we sit in the league. We need to look at the future and building on our youth and developing a successful game plan. It will take a little while to adjust to craigy's plan. I feel though that if things aren't going the way he likes after three games I would like to see him give them a fair old kick up the rear.

I do think he is a good coach to guide us through this period.

Yes - after [now] yesterday's game we need to be very patient. The team was competitive and will be hard to predict from week to week. We will lose games we should have won [like yesterday] - or were expected to - and we will win games that we are not expected to or should have lost - like maybe a showdown or two!!

I do worry about our recent poor record in close games [except the trials of course] and we need to be able to pinch the odd game or hang on in a tight finish - as it's these sorts of games that can build team spirit and create momentum.

I question a top 8 finish based on :
1. our lack of depth
2. a lack of consisent goalscoring options...
3. ...and a tendency to kick inaccurately
4. Macca's inability to make a difference at crucial times...
5. ... and a lack of other players who can turn a game as well
6. and i tend be a bit conservative bordering on a tad passimistic

So bottom line is watch/go to games with an open mind and expect the unexpected - good, bad and ugly!!

Calling for the coaches head one game into the season, after a loss to a quality team like West Coast, is lunacy. Eight teams lost this week - so should that be eight guys looking for new jobs Monday?

I think we stand a good chance to turn things around this week.

The club is headed in the right direction, and even if we have to take a step backwards to go forwards then I'm right behind them.

What a sad, sad post, blind support despite whats happening at the club atm, doesnt make it right.

the difference is that you can turn it around in two yrs like carlton, who by the way happens to have a great coach.

or

over 3-4, maybe 5 like the saints or geelong, who happen to have unproven coaches.

the coach decides who stays and goes, so NC is 70% responsible for this yrs form, and 100% on the players we have on the list as he chose to keep them all.

While blind support sounds nice, unfortunately its constructive criticism that gets things moving.

Jack which option do you support? Option 1 sounds great but I would bet my left one that if there was a major cleanout and we lost our first 10 games you would be leading the charge for the coaches head.

If you support option 2 then you understand that it takes time and the focus of the club is longer than a round 1 loss. Not that theres many calling for the coaches head after round 1.

Just the pessimists.

Are you a pessimist jack?

A realist is more it i think, i can see there is pain ahead and we can choose to deal with it a couple of ways. NC has chosen the second option, which just prolongs the pain.

you would unfortunately loose your left testicle cause i honestly wouldnt call for his head, although its easy to say that, but i would respect him more if he'd had a clean out.

Basically,
second option = stupid option

just as blind faith = stupid option

outbackjack= slight optimist

btw, i havent called for NC's head, i have no doubt he will get his three yrs.

i found the wcoast game more impressive than the port game, i was very disappointed after that game. Saying that NC has to make alot of improvements to be a ten yr coach, which is improbable atm, but not impossible.

Not me I put my name down to become a season ticket holder in 96 for two reasons.
To give my support to my team and to try and educate the ones already there how to support, not to just watch the bloody game. To get involved.
Still trying however, and keep shakin the head.

Carlton, won the Wizard Cup, thats all. They are far from being a real premiership threat. Probably no more of a threat than us, and we havent made any real personnel changes. I think by the time Carlton are a genuine premiership contender, they will have taken 4-5 years to rebuild, just like Geelong and St.Kilda did. I dont think your examples are all that different Jack. Carlton have taken two years to be half the quality of the teams that Geelong and St.Kilda have built in 4-5 years. Carltons progress is more than a tad over rated IMO.

Why do you keep using Carlton as an example of a "quick turnaround"? They haven't done anything yet. Except lose to the Kangaroos.

I don't know if this is having a go at me or not. No problem I can handle it.

I haven't called for Craig's head, it's only one game for christ's sake. He's got 2 years (I think) & he should get 2 years. He also had the team playing an awful brand of football on Sunday & should be held accountable for that.

I support the team at the game, I don't bag them.

BUT - I will have my say when I see & hear things that I don't agree with.

We have a ******** list, we continue to play players who have proven they are NOT AFL standard when we should be playing kids who MAY be AFL standard.
We should have delisted Stevens & Begley last year. We should not have re-contracted Smith last year.

I don't know how long it will take us to rebuild 1,2,3 or more years, but I do know that the longer we continue to play Skipworth, Bode, Clarke, Doughty etc, the longer it will take.
